Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Boasting is excluded by the law of faith, because salvation comes through faith and not through human works. Boasting that rests on human works is shut out, for true standing before God is not earned by what man does. Neither personal effort, nor humiliation, nor penance can escape the guilt of sin or lessen its punishment. Salvation comes only through repentance toward God and faith in Christ.
True religion is depending entirely on the righteousness of Christ and not on works of merit. His grace is a free gift and cannot be bought. Looking in faith to the crucified Redeemer brings peace and joy.
