Abram Looking at the Stars Outside His TentBible World

Romans 4:18

Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

Faith holds to hope even when circumstances give little reason for hope. Against hope it still believes in hope, refusing to let outward conditions decide what can be expected. In times of deep darkness and difficulty this means keeping on praying and trusting God. Attention is not to dwell on dangers and discouragement but to stay fixed on God in prayerful trust.

Such faith enables human nature to grasp the divine nature. As divinity was grasped through Christ's humanity, so people through faith may grasp the divine nature. By that grasp they overcome.
