Abraham Looks Up at the Stars Outside His Tentby emmanuel_higgins

Romans 4:22

And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Abraham was counted righteous because he did not waver or give way to unbelief at God's promises but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, and was fully persuaded that God could do and was able to perform what He had promised. No person can do good or produce righteousness by his own power, but in every submissive and believing person God works what that person cannot do. As faith brought the promised child to Abraham, so faith brings spiritual life and enables works of righteousness.

Through such faith human nature can grasp the divine nature and overcome, because Christ took humanity and laid hold upon divinity. What was counted to Abraham was not written for his sake alone, for righteousness is imputed to all to whom it shall be imputed if they believe on God who raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus was delivered for offenses and was raised again for justification, so those who share Abraham's faith are justified by faith and have peace with God through Jesus Christ.

The faith that says God is able must increase under present opportunities, and must not fail nor be discouraged by seeming impossibilities that bar the way.
