Romans 4:9
Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
The reckoning of Abraham's faith for righteousness in Romans 4, read together with Romans 5, reveals human nature laying hold upon divine nature. That union is made possible because Christ Himself took humanity and in that humanity overcame. Faith therefore is not mere assent but the grasp by which fallen humanity partakes of the divine power manifested in Christ's victory. Such faith cannot remain hidden, but must be shown by works. Its appointed work is to take up active labor for those who do not yet believe, carrying to unbelievers what has been received through Christ.
