Apostle Paul in Thoughtful ContemplationBible World
7:19Romans 7:19
For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
The verse portrays the inner conflict of desiring to do good yet failing to perform it, and instead practicing the evil that is not desired. Resolutions formed in one's own strength collapse because moral power is weak and the will is not directed toward the Lord. The unaided human will has no real power to resist and overcome evil, so that without God a person is left with no barrier against sin. Continuing in that condition leaves a person unsaved and grieving the Saviour, and rejecting God's word and Spirit can lead downward into depths of wrongdoing. Deliverance comes when the heart is changed by God's grace.
