Romans 8:23
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
The verse gives voice to an inward groaning for deliverance from the pain and burden carried in the present mortal body. It looks forward with longing to the time when that suffering condition is exchanged for glorious immortality. This hope centers on the redemption of the body itself as the fulfillment of waiting for full adoption.
