Ruth 3:14 stands within the brief, beautiful pastoral story of Ruth. It is told in four short and deeply interesting chapters. The whole tale is set in the time of the judges. The book was written by Samuel, or in the early days of David by Nathan the prophet. The story closes by bringing out the ancestry of the Lord Jesus, into which Ruth, a Moabite woman, is brought, and in the account containing this verse the near kinsman with Ruth is a type of Christ.
