Ruth 3:4
And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do. And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
Ruth 3:4 belongs to the brief, beautiful, wonderfully interesting pastoral story of Ruth, a little pastoral tale set in the time of the judges. Its close brings out the ancestry of the Lord Jesus, into which a Moabite woman is brought. The book holding it was written by Samuel, or in the early days of David by Nathan the prophet. In its immediate setting Naomi directs Ruth to bring to Boaz's attention his duty as redeemer for a deceased kinsman. Boaz was willing to fulfill that duty, but a nearer kinsman held the prior right, so Boaz would take the obligation himself only if that man refused.
