Zechariah 1:17
Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem. Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
The proclamation was sent to the Jews as comfort and hope while their permission to rebuild Jerusalem hung in uncertainty. It came after the affliction that had fallen upon Jerusalem and Judah. Through prosperity the cities, Jerusalem with the rest, would yet spread abroad and expand again. The Lord had returned to Jerusalem with mercy, and He would yet comfort Zion and yet choose Jerusalem. In this He gave assurance that the rebuilding of His house and the restoration of the city of Jerusalem would go forward.
