Zechariah 1:2

The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.

The Lord was greatly, deeply displeased with the fathers, the ancestors of the returned exiles who were being addressed. The warning came in visions given in a time of uncertainty, when He also gave comfort and promised mercy and the restoration of Jerusalem. Those fathers had refused to heed the prophets' calls to turn from evil. His words and statutes overtook them, and judgment came upon them according to their ways.

The verse stands in the first four chapters of Zechariah. It is part of Old Testament prophecy given as the Lord's word and message for the last days. Its fulfillment is certain. Its foretold scenes will be fulfilled as surely as the desolation of San Francisco was fulfilled.
