Zechariah 1:3

Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.

The call was spoken to the returned Jews at the time when they feared that permission to rebuild the temple would be withdrawn. The messages of that chapter were sent to sustain and cheer the people by revealing God's compassion and love. The verse is a summons to turn unto God, with the pledged response that He will turn unto those who return. That invitation carries the promise to heal all backslidings.

It shows His willingness to restore those who turn from sin and lukewarmness. Those who repent zealously receive His favor. His word here is sure, and blessing is promised to all who heed it.

The verse stands among Old Testament prophecies that speak as the Lord's word for the last days. Those prophecies are certain to be fulfilled. Their scenes will be witnessed and fulfilled as surely as the desolation of San Francisco.
