And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the LORD.
God will strengthen His people in the Lord so that they walk up and down in His name while He fulfills every promise and completes the salvation He began by giving His Son as a sacrifice. That salvation is for all who are saved in His appointed way through obedience to all His commandments. Having begun to save man and shown His purpose by delivering His people by His own strong hand and by inviting all to lay hold of His outstretched arm, He will employ all the resources of heaven to bring their salvation to its consummation. His people magnify His name by exercising implicit faith in Him and by placing their entire dependence upon Him.
To walk in His name is to know Jesus as a father to those left without husband and father, and as a present help in every time of need. He shields and protects them through inconvenience and sorrow, His loving-kindness does not fail, and His good hand is over them in protection and love. Their lives are precious in His sight, and He is to them a sun and a shield who loves and cares for them.
God strengthens His people by being with them, and those who share the spiritual gifts and knowledge they have received become fruitful. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit they become mighty and prevail. In this strength they represent His goodness to the world in both spiritual and temporal matters.
