Zechariah 14:20
In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD’s house shall be like the bowls before the altar. In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD’s house shall be like the bowls before the altar.
Holiness to the Lord is to mark every part of life and work, not sacred things alone but ordinary business and every action of one wholly given to God. In business this means daybooks, ledgers, deeds, receipts and bills of exchange are to show that God governs every transaction. The declaration is the motto for workers in every department, so that both religious service and business bear heaven's signature, and those who serve are to strive for perfection and become complete in Christ. Ordinary work as well as expressly spiritual work is to be done for God's glory, and no honest duty is useless merely because it is humble.
The same declaration appears on the white banner of the pure, faithful Christian company, in the form purity and holiness unto the Lord, marking its purity and holiness amid persecution. The banner is held firmly through persecution, with those who refuse to lower it remaining faithful while others compromise. It is reflected in the inscription holiness to the Lord on the crowns given to the overcomers before they enter the holy city, showing that the redeemed belong to God and are marked by holiness.
