So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.
After bringing punishment upon Jerusalem and the house of Judah for the provocation of their fathers, God turned from His former purpose to punish and again purposed in these days to do well unto them, bidding them not to fear. His purpose in this renewed favor was to save His people and make them a blessing, but they failed to fulfill His purposes. That promise of renewed favor is a type foreshadowing the spiritual restoration to be wrought for Israel before the end of time.
The good He purposed is bound up with cleansing the soul temple and living in truth, justice, and peace. Selfishness and deceit bring judgment, while obedience opens the way for God to bless and protect His people. Because God has so turned to do good and not to punish, there is reason to undertake sincere missionary work for the Jews.
