And them that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him.
The judgment falls on two classes, those who have turned back from following the Lord and those who have never sought Him nor asked for His guidance. This warning belongs to the coming day of the Lord, a day of wrath and reckoning when such neglect and rejection place them among the wicked who are punished. Before that day comes the related appeal is to seek the Lord, to seek righteousness, and to seek meekness.
That judgment is being fulfilled in the lives of some who have enjoyed great light and many opportunities to know and understand God's ways and works. In the wedding-feast illustration the verse applies to the chosen, invited people who refuse God's invitation. They refuse because they are absorbed in worldly gain. They trust their own wisdom as sufficient. Their refusal shows disregard for Him who invited them.
