Zephaniah 1:9

In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.

In the same day, the day of the Lord's sacrifice and judgment, all who leap on the threshold and fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit will be punished as part of the judgments brought upon evildoers. Their violent and dishonest conduct brings them under the judgment announced for that day. Filling masters' houses with violence and deceit means using violence and deceit to enrich masters.

The verse belongs to a warning of the Lord's coming judgment in which that day is described as a day of wrath and distress, and people are urged to seek the Lord, righteousness, and meekness before it comes. It is a warning of judgment on people who turn away from the Lord, applied to the invited people who reject God's call and put worldly gain first. The judgment it declares is literally fulfilled in the conduct of people who have received great light and many opportunities to know and understand God's ways.
