A Shepherd Leads His Flock Among Ashkelon's Ruinsby emmanuel_higgins

Zephaniah 2:7

And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

The coast is appointed for the remnant of the house of Judah as a place of refuge and provision. There they feed upon what is provided for them. In the evening they lie down in the houses of Ashkelon. The Lord their God visits them and turns away their captivity, a promise of future restoration. The prophecy concerns the holy people, those who keep God's commandments and the testimony of Jesus, as they face the decree and the final outpouring of divine anger. Their deliverance comes when Michael stands up for them.

Because the day of the Lord is near, the verse joins the call to seek meekness and righteousness. It urges reform and holy living in preparation to meet the Lord.
