Week 5: Confidence Only in Christ 📖🙏
Here is a daily study guide for this week's lesson, designed to help you dive deeper into the themes of faith, grace, and righteousness in Christ.
Sunday: Rejoicing in the Lord ☀️
Key Theme: The joy of the believer is rooted in the character of God, not in human circumstances or fleshly credentials.
The Command to Rejoice: Paul emphasizes that rejoicing in the Lord is "safe" for the believer because it keeps our eyes fixed on the Source of our strength Philippians 3:1.
The Warning: We are told to "beware of dogs" and "evil workers"—those who would lead us to trust in external rites like circumcision rather than the Spirit of God Philippians 3:2-3.
True Circumcision: Real circumcision is not a mark in the flesh, but the worship of God in the spirit and having "no confidence in the flesh" Philippians 3:3Romans 2:28-29.
Reflection: Are you looking to your own "good works" for peace, or are you resting in the matchless charms of Jesus?
Monday: Paul’s "Past Life" 🏛️
Key Theme: Even the most impressive religious pedigree is "loss" compared to the knowledge of Christ.
Human Credentials: Paul had every reason to trust the flesh—an Israelite, a Pharisee, and "blameless" regarding the law's external requirements Philippians 3:4-6.
The Law as a Mirror: The law is holy and good, but its purpose is to reveal sin, not to provide the power for righteousness Romans 7:7-12.
The Blindness of Zeal: Paul’s very zeal for the law blinded him to the Savior, leading him to persecute the church he thought he was defending Philippians 3:6Acts 9:1-2.
Reflection: Is there any religious achievement you are holding onto that might be blinding you to your absolute need for a Savior?
Tuesday: The Things That Matter 💎
Key Theme: Conversion involves a radical shift in values—from earthly "gain" to heavenly "treasure."
The Great Exchange: What Paul once counted as gain, he now counts as "dung" (refuse) so that he may win Christ Philippians 3:7-8.
Heaven's Currency: The world blinds us to eternal interests, but the Holy Spirit gives us "eye-salve" to see the value of a Christlike character.
Spiritual Eyesight: Jesus came for judgment—that those who admit they are blind might see, and those who claim they see might be made blind John 9:39-41.
Reflection: If Jesus were to walk through your "soul temple" today, what earthly idols would He ask you to remove?
Wednesday: The Faith of Christ 🛡️
Key Theme: We are justified by the "faith of Christ"—His perfect faithfulness imputed to us as a gift.
Found in Him: To be "in Christ" means His life is our life, and His righteousness covers our defects Philippians 3:92 Corinthians 5:21.
The Faith that Saves: We do not live by our own fluctuating faith, but by the "faith of the Son of God," which is His gift to us Galatians 2:20.
Righteousness by Faith: This is the Third Angel's Message in verity—the imputed righteousness of Christ as the only hope for the sinner.
Reflection: Do you believe that Christ’s perfect obedience is credited to your account the moment you submit to Him?
Thursday: Just One Thing—Knowing Christ 🏃💨
Key Theme: The Christian life is a progressive race toward the goal of becoming like Jesus.
The Power of Resurrection: Knowing Christ means experiencing the same power that raised Him from the dead to walk in "newness of life" Philippians 3:10Romans 6:4.
Fellowship of Sufferings: Trials are educators that bring us into closer contact with our heavenly Father Philippians 3:10.
Pressing Toward the Mark: We are to forget the failures of the past and stretch forward to the high calling of God Philippians 3:13-14.
Reflection: Are you lingering over past mistakes, or are you "looking unto Jesus," the Author and Finisher of your faith Hebrews 12:2?
Friday: Character Perfected Through Grace 😇
Key Theme: God works in us to reflect His image perfectly before the world.
The Divine Workman: God spends time polishing His "precious jewels" so they can reflect His image in His temple.
Cooperation with God: We work out our salvation with fear and trembling, but it is God who works in us both to will and to do Philippians 2:12-13.
The Final Demonstration: Before Christ returns, His image will be perfectly reflected in His people, proving that grace can overcome sinful flesh.
Reflection: As you prepare for the Sabbath, ask the Lord to make you a "bright and shining light" that reveals His goodness to those around you.
