How to get out of discouragement because of comparison self with others success?

To overcome discouragement arising from comparing your success with others, you must shift your focus from human appearances to God’s specific providence for your life and cultivate a heart of gratitude for the unique path He has set before you. Comparing yourself with others who commend themselves is not wise, as it leads to the exaltation of self or the denouncing of brethren 2 Corinthians 10:12.

Look to God Instead of Appearances

  • Focus on Duty: You should not look upon present appearances but keep your eye single to your duty and to God's glory.

  • Trust His Plan: God understands His own plans and knows what you need far better than you do, so you must never fancy that you would be "something" if only you had a different lot assigned to you.

  • Accept Your Sphere: What you may perceive as hindrances or obstacles are often God's opportunities to refine your character.

  • Follow Providence: As you follow in His opening providence, the path shall brighten before you.

Combat the Roots of Comparison

  • Uproot Jealousy: Choke the "devilish envy" that gnaws at the heart because you are not in the same position as others.

  • Avoid Extremes: Do not form too high an opinion of yourself, which leads to arrogance, nor too low an opinion, which limits your influence; instead, seek a correct, dignified estimate of yourself based on Christ’s pattern.

  • Resist the Enemy: Recognize that Satan triumphs when he can get your mind exercised over the inconsistency or success of others, and decide to break this spell by trusting in the Lord as your strength.

  • Cleanse the Soul-Temple: Selfishness and self-importance urge you to dwell on things that create contention; these must be cleansed so that God can work in power.

Practice Active Spiritual Habits

  • Cultivate Gratitude: Fill your heart with praise and thankfulness for the blessings you have already received, which clears away the "rubbish" that fills the heart.

  • Seek the Holy Spirit: When the Spirit of God takes possession of the heart, joy takes the place of sadness, and your countenance will reflect the light of heaven.

  • Identify with Christ: Remember that your life is hid with Christ in God, and the religion of Jesus is intended to be one of joy, peace, and happiness.

  • Study the Word: The Christian may lift up his soul for strength amid every discouragement by making the Bible the great educator and textbook for life.

Find Strength in Trials

  • Rely on Divine Strength: Nothing is more invincible than a soul that feels its nothingness and relies wholly on God.

  • Wait Patiently: Learning to trust when everything looks dark is a vital lesson for those doing God's work.

  • Remember the Reward: Every self-denial and sacrifice is faithfully recorded in heaven and will bring its reward.

  • Persevere: Do not be weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not Galatians 6:9.

The light of the gospel rebukes selfishness and encourages us to move out from our limited spheres to enter greater enterprises for God. By beholding Jesus, you will be changed into His likeness and enabled to maintain self-control even when trials or the successes of others press upon you. 🌟
