The Urgent Call: What We Do, We Must Do Quickly 📢
The Mystery of Redemption 🕊️
The science of salvation is the most profound study for every human intelligence, revealing how fallen man can be conformed to the image of the Son of God. Christ offered up His broken body to purchase back God's heritage, giving us another trial through His spotless life and death on the cross. Not as a mere petitioner does He intercede, but as a Conqueror claiming His victory. He holds before the Father the censer containing His own merits and the prayers of His people, perfumed with the fragrance of His righteousness. This intercession is the only reason we are not left alone in a world flooded with evil. Because He lives, we have a mediator who is able to save to the uttermost all who come to God by Him Hebrews 7:25.
👧 Children's Corner: The Golden Censer 🏺
Imagine a beautiful golden altar in heaven where an angel stands with a golden censer Revelation 8:3. Inside that censer is special incense that smells sweeter than any flower you have ever smelled. When you pray a simple prayer, even if you find it hard to find the right words, the Holy Spirit helps you Romans 8:26. Jesus takes your prayer and adds that sweet-smelling incense to it so that it becomes a beautiful gift to God Revelation 8:4. Just like a child might need a parent to help them write a letter to a King, Jesus helps our prayers reach the Father's heart. He wants you to know that He never forgets you for one brief moment.
I. The Solemn Reality of Our Time ⏳
We are living in a period fraught with fearful interest as probation's hours are fast drawing to a close. The Lord bids us to proclaim the message with power in the East, South, North, and West, for the end is near and hasteth greatly. In a little while, we shall be unable to work with the freedom we now enjoy, for terrible scenes are before us. What we do, we must do quickly. The seventh angel has been sounding since 1844, and soon the mystery of God—the gospel of Jesus Christ—will be finished Revelation 10:7. This world-wide warning of impending judgment has been given, and the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
II. Opposing the Tide of Human Woe 🌊
God calls us to co-operate with heavenly intelligences in pressing back the tide of human woe. This work begins in the home, where fathers and mothers have a joint responsibility to train their children to be true to principle. We must also stand in defense of truth and righteousness regarding the oppressed. In the past, those who labored for human rights sometimes lost their faith when they viewed the Word of God as a hindrance, but true reform must be rooted in Christ. We are to manifest holy activity, exercising our powers to become efficient in saving souls and glorifying God.
Social Equality: The regulations God established, like the jubilee, were designed to promote social equality and set right economic wrongs.
The Color Line: Prejudice against the colored race is not of God; it is created by principalities and powers of darkness.
Practical Godliness: Our faith is shown by our kindness, forbearance, self-denial, and love.
III. The Danger of Civil Enactments ⚖️
There is a visible movement seeking to regenerate the world through politics and human laws. Movements like the National Reform Association seek to gain a legal basis for "Christian" laws, even claiming the state has a right to command the consciences of men. When religion is supported by the sword of the prince or the power of the ballot, it ceases to be the Gospel and becomes an opponent of it. History shows that governmental championship destroys a spiritual cause and leads to religious persecution. We must obey God rather than men when human law contravenes the divine.
Counterfeit Righteousness: "Civic righteousness" is a dangerous delusion that attempts to replace soul righteousness with human legislation.
Sunday Laws: The enforcement of Sunday-keeping by law is a manifestation of a rival power against Jesus Christ.
Religious Liberty: True liberty leaves the individual alone with his God, free from civil interference in matters of faith.
IV. The High Standard of the Law 📜
The royal law is the standard by which character is measured and is the only detector of sin. While we are saved by grace, the Lord requires us to keep His commandments as a condition of His promises. Sabbath-breaking in the past led to the desolation of Jerusalem, proving that we reject the Arm of our defense when we reject His law Jeremiah 17:24-25. We must stand faithful and true, bearing a testimony in favor of the law even as opposition strengthens.
The Final Appeal: What Will You Do? 📢
The decision is being made for time and for eternity in every meeting. There are souls today who are trembling in the balance, almost persuaded to be wholly for God. I ask you in the name of the Lord Jesus: Who will be on the Lord's side? Will you wait for a more favorable opportunity that may never come?
Jesus lives to make intercession for you right now, and He wants you to come to Him with all your burdens and perplexities. Do not look on the dark side, for He knows every pang of anguish you suffer. Take hold of His strength and make peace with Him while the door of mercy is still open Isaiah 27:5. The Spirit and the bride say, "Come," and whosoever will may take the water of life freely Revelation 22:17.
What are you going to do with the light God has given you? Will you confess your sins and wash your robes in the blood of the Lamb before the work of the gospel is closed? Turn to Christ now, for He is able to save you to the uttermost Hebrews 7:25.
