Sacred Trust: Encouraging Stewardship and Treasury Teams

Are you handling church funds as the sacred revenue of the King?

AdventAI

I need a sermon or sermonet to encourage SDA Church Treasury team on training Church stewardship.

AdventAI

It would be my pleasure to support your ministry by crafting both a comprehensive sermon and a structured outline to inspire your SDA treasury team in their stewardship training. I look forward to helping you encourage them in this vital work of faithful service!

The Sacred Trust: Stewards of the King 👑

Introduction: Our High Calling

To be called to the treasury team is not merely to handle figures, but to handle the revenue of the King of Kings. You are guardians of the means God has entrusted to His people to finish His work on earth. This work is a sacred partnership with the Divine Firm. Every dollar you track and every lesson on stewardship you share is a step toward the return of our Savior.

🍎 A Story for the Little Stewards

Imagine a little boy named Sammy who was given ten shiny apples by his father. His father said, "Sammy, nine of these apples are for you to eat and share, but the tenth apple is special; it belongs to me to give to children who have no food." One day, Sammy saw a very hungry child, but he had already eaten his nine apples. He looked at the tenth apple. If he ate it, he would be taking what belonged to his father. But Sammy remembered his father's love and happily gave that tenth apple away. Just like Sammy, God gives us everything we have and asks us to return a small part to help others find the way to heaven. Even a child can be a treasurer for the Lord.

I. The Foundation of Faithful Management ⚖️

The Lord requires absolute integrity in every financial transaction. Whether it is in the home or the church, good management is a vital part of our religion.

  • Just Weights and Measures: God abhors divers weights and dishonest dealings. We must have perfect and just measures in all we do Deuteronomy 25:13-16.

  • Transparent Bookkeeping: Those in leadership must understand the principles of bookkeeping and ensure every report is perfectly straight.

  • The Royal Law: Our standard for character and financial dealing is the law of God, which commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves Leviticus 19:18.

  • Economic Wisdom: Means must be used in an economical manner, ensuring funds are not overdrawn but invested where they are most needed.

II. Educating the People in Tithing and Offerings 📖

Our duty is not to censure the people for a lack of means, but to educate them in the will of God.

  • Systematic Benevolence: The tithing system is beautiful in its simplicity and equality, allowing everyone—rich or poor—to have a part in the work of salvation.

  • A Duty to be Repeated: Instruction on tithing must be given tactfully, plainly, and repeatedly so the people do not rob God through ignorance.

  • The Blessing of the Storehouse: When we bring all the tithes into the storehouse, God promises to open the windows of heaven Malachi 3:10.

  • Prioritizing God: We should never tell someone to pay their human debts before their debt to God, for our obligation to the Giver of life is supreme.

III. Avoiding Worldly Snares and Amusements 🚫

The church treasury must be kept pure from carnal inventions.

  • No To Worldly Methods: We are to stand clear of festivals, fairs, lotteries, and dances used to gather money.

  • The Price of Souls: To appeal to the lust of the appetite or provide carnal amusement as an inducement to give is a demoralizing influence that bears the curse of God.

  • Acceptable Offerings: If an offering is not given willingly out of love for Christ, it is not acceptable to God.

  • Speculation Dangers: Ministers and leaders must not engage in land speculation or worldly business enterprises that draw hearts away from the work of God.

IV. The Purpose of Our Means: The Cross of Christ ✝️

The science of salvation is the groundwork of our stewardship. All that we have belongs to God because He bought us with the price of His own blood.

  • The Example of Jesus: Our Lord was rich, yet for our sake He became poor so that we might be rich in eternal life.

  • The Mission Field: Funds are to be used to establish schools, sanitariums, and meeting houses, and to send the living preacher to every part of the world.

  • Ministering to the Needy: True religion involves feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and caring for the widow and fatherless.

  • Laying Up Treasure in Heaven: By investing in the salvation of souls, we transfer our affections to the eternal inheritance.

The Appeal: What Are You Going to Do? 📢

Brethren and sisters of the treasury team, the Lord is looking beneath the surface of our financiering to the heart of the matter. Every sacrifice you make and every effort to train others in faithful stewardship is registered in the books of heaven. We are living in a time that calls for solid work and vigilant watching.

The Master asks you today: Will you be a faithful steward of the talents entrusted to you? Will you choose to be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord in your business dealings Romans 12:11? Do not wait until the hour of death to surrender your means to God. Seize the present golden moments to advance the kingdom of Christ.

When the Comforter comes, He testifies of Christ and empowers us to bear witness through our lives and our stewardship John 15:26-27. Soon, the faithful will cast their glittering crowns at the Redeemer's feet in complete joy. Will you decide now to be "as true as steel to principle" in your sacred work? Let us consecrate our souls, our bodies, and our means to the one who gave everything for us. What is your decision today?
