Witnessing with Urgency and Building a Relationship with God

Should you wait until your faith is perfect before sharing it?

AdventAI

When should one evangelize to other people win? They have put God first in their live when they have a relationship with God and what if they want to evangelize to a person but only have a limited amount to witness to that person until that person is gone or they won’t be able to talk to them anymore. What does the KJV Bible and EGW say about that should the person wait until they have a strong settled relationship with God or should the person reach out to that person and witness to them and get to know them better and when they’re settled, they can start witnessing a bit to them little by little?

AdventAI

You should seek a deep personal preparation of heart immediately, as the duty to witness is urgent and should not be delayed because of the brevity of life. While a living connection with Christ is the only source of power, you are called to work for others even as you yourself are learning and growing.

The Urgency of the Present Moment

  • You must not delay your own heart preparation or your efforts to save others, for tomorrow your hands may be folded in death and your opportunity lost forever.

  • The time of the Lord’s preparation is now, and since the end of all things is at hand, every moment is charged with solemn responsibility.

  • Because you do not know the day or the hour of the Lord's coming, you must always be ready to march at a moment's notice Matthew 24:44.

The Necessity of a Living Connection

  • To be a successful witness, you must first know God and Jesus Christ through an experimental, personal experience John 17:3.

  • It is the Holy Spirit that gives "edge and power" to your words; without this divine endowment, your efforts will be as destitute of merit as the offering of Cain.

  • Before communicating with men, you should commune with Christ in secret prayer to obtain a fitness for ministering to the soul.

  • True power in witnessing comes from a twofold life: one of silent prayer and one of earnest, active work.

Witnessing While Learning

  • Even those with small talents or limited experience have a place in God's plan and should use what they have faithfully.

  • As you receive light from the Word of God, you are under a heavenly law to immediately impart that light to others.

  • A student-teacher can be a channel of light while they are still storing away a fresh supply of knowledge and having their own eyes opened to the Word.

  • You are not required to do the work of a lifetime in a single day; God simply asks for a willing mind and the performance of the duty of the hour.

Personal Evangelism and Building Relationships

  • The most effective way to reach someone, especially if time is short, is through personal, fireside labor and social contact.

  • Jesus did not stand aloof; He entered the homes of men and met them where they were, and you must follow His example to win their confidence.

  • By being social and coming close to people, you can change the current of their thoughts more quickly than by giving a formal discourse.

  • Your most powerful argument is not a sermon, but a Christlike life and the simple testimony of your own experience with God’s grace.

The Risk of Waiting Too Long

  • If you wait until you feel "perfectly settled" before reaching out, you may find that your heart grows harder or that the "brittle thread of life" is cut while you are still unready.

  • Satan seeks to divert your mind with side issues or a "supposed preparation" to keep you from doing the work God has assigned to you now.

  • Working for others is actually a primary means of your own spiritual growth; it frees the mind from selfishness and brings you the refreshing grace of God.

In summary, do not wait. Plead for the Holy Spirit today, and then reach out to those around you with a kind, courteous, and sincere heart. As you seek to save the perishing, Christ will abide in you, giving you the very words you need to speak.

When does one know that they do have a personal relationship with God?

AdventAI

One knows they have a personal relationship with God when they experience an internal, living connection that transforms their daily thoughts, motives, and character. This "experimental religion" is not merely an intellectual agreement with the truth, but a deep, personal acquaintance with a living Saviour that brings joy, peace, and a sense of God’s presence within the soul.

Evidences of a Personal Relationship

  • Internal Evidence and Transformation: You will have the internal evidence of a character cleansed from sin and a soul purified by the atoning blood of Christ. This relationship is marked by a "born-again" experience that makes one an overcomer of the world, the flesh, and the devil 1 John 5:4.

  • Communion and Confidence: A personal connection is revealed when you feel God's life within you and recognize His hand in your daily life, even in the soft breeze or the fulfillment of His promises. You will possess a holy confidence that allows you to go to Him for your needs just as a child goes to an earthly parent John 16:24.

  • Obedience and Fruitfulness: True knowledge of God leads to a willing obedience to His commandments out of love John 14:15. You will find that you no longer desire "cheap conversation" or worldly amusements, but instead educate your mind to dwell on pure and heavenly themes.

  • The Witness of the Spirit: The Holy Spirit works as a refining furnace in the heart, removing dross and leaving the image of Christ discernible in your life. You will find yourself hungering for Bible study and desiring to grow daily in grace and spiritual knowledge 2 Peter 1:2.

Knowing God Through Experience

  • Experimental Knowledge: To know God is more than learning theology; it is becoming personally acquainted with Him through "tasting" His goodness for yourself. It is a fact-based experience where you rely on the sure word of God rather than the reports of others.

  • The Spirit of a Learner: One who knows God approaches the Bible in the spirit of a learner, seeking to know what God says rather than looking for proof to sustain their own opinions.

  • Personal Prayer Life: A real relationship is maintained through secret prayer, where you become personally acquainted with your heavenly Father away from the eyes of the world.

The Practical Result of Knowing Him

  • Love for Others: As your love for Christ becomes deeper and stronger, your love for your fellow man will be purified and strengthened. You will feel a burden to share the light you have received, realizing that God has made you a means of salvation for others.

  • Seeing the Invisible: Those who are pure in heart have the privilege of "seeing" God now through faith, enduring trials as if seeing Him who is invisible Matthew 5:8.

  • Peace in Trials: In times of conflict, you will have an abiding assurance of the love of Christ and a rich experience in divine things that supports and consoles you. This connection is the only thing that provides true success and power in life.

If you are unsure of your standing, you are encouraged to seek the Lord while He may be found and to rely with your whole being upon Jesus Christ as your righteousness Isaiah 55:6. To know God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent is the very definition of eternal life John 17:3.
