DO YOU KNOW HIM?

“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of His understanding.” Isa. 40:28. If you have not known this, it is very important that you learn it. It is a source of great comfort to know that He who controls the universe, who supplies all our wants, who watches over us by day and by night, whose ear is open to the cry of the needy, never gets weary. His strength never gives way. And nothing ever can occur that will be beyond His understanding. It is worth while to know such a God as this; there is reason, there is wisdom, in worshiping such a God.
“Hast thou not known” Him? Then hasten to make His acquaintance; for no one can afford to remain in ignorance of Him and of His truth. All men get faint in this world, faint in body and in spirit; so they need to know “the everlasting God,” for “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength.” Verse 29. Amongst the inhabitants of earth there is none that can stand in his own strength; for “even the youths [with all their buoyancy and self-confidence] shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall.” Verse 30.
“Hast thou not known” this great “Creator of the ends of the earth”? Hast thou not known Him “by whom all things consist”? Then seek to know Him at once; and delay not to enter His service. For “they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Verse 31.
“Hast thou not known” the Lifegiver, the Author of salvation? Now is the time to learn of Him, yea, the time to find Him. It is life eternal to know the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom He has sent to give life to all who will accept it of Him. Not to know Him is death. To be a stranger to the covenant of promise is to be without hope, without God (Eph. 2:11, 12); and that means “everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord” (2 Thess. 1:7-9). “He that hath the Son [or is fully acquainted with Him] hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” 1 John 5:12. In Him you may have peace; for He is our peace. Eph. 2:14. He is “the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14:6. Seek Him now, while He may be found. His promise is, “I love them that love Me; and those that seek Me early shall find Me.” Prov. 8:17. G.
