EIGHT OF THE THINGS WHICH THE WORD OF GOD DOES FOR US.

1. It gives us a new birth. “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.” I Peter 1 : 23.

2. It gives light. “The entrance of Thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Ps. 119 : 130.

3. It guides our pathway. “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Verse 105.

4. It keeps us from sinning. “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” Verse 11.

5. It is a comfort in affliction. “This is my comfort in my affliction; for Thy word hath quickened me.” Verse 50.

6. It causes us to rejoice. “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart.” Jer. 15 : 16.

7. It cleanses us. “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” John 15 : 3.

8. It sanctifies us. “Sanctify them through Thy truth; Thy Word is truth.” John 17 : 17.
