THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE
Earlier text: PURE FOOD MAKES PURE BLOOD

The Fall, Sin, and Atonement

It does seem at this late day that men bearing before their name “Rev.” would not stop to argue that the doctrine of sin and atonement are unreasonable. Surely every man knows that he is a sinner by nature; and every man who has a just conception of God would know that God never made man that way. Moreover, the wonderful miracles wrought by the power of Christianity in the regeneration of men, and tribes, and nations, always through the individual, is perpetual evidence of the truth of God’s Word and the doctrine of the atonement. Clara H. Shinn well says, in the Chicago Record-Herald, to those who reject the record concerning the fall: “Jesus alluded to the fall of man when He said He came to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10), tho evolutionists would have us believe that nothing ever was lost.” And every soul needs saving.

A Novel Mosquito Remedy.

A German scientist advises various localities mosquito-affected to scare the mosquitoes away by stringing up dead dragon-flies on wires. The fear of the dragon-flies, he thinks, would keep away the mosquito. Evidently that German scientist does not know the mosquito in his native habitat,—how many he is or how fierce.

The September “Era” has an interesting article (illustrated) on “Mushrooms and Toadstools,” edible and poisonous, and how to distinguish them, by Charles McIlvaine, author of “One Thousand American Fungi.”
