Biblical Principles of Intercessory Prayer for Others
Can we pray for God to send 10,000 angels to protect a loved one?
Is it biblical to pray for someone else to be forgiven of their sins AND to send the holy spirit to them to continue to convince them /teach them /show them that God is real. It's not the perpose to take their right to choose to follow God or not. If these things are biblical can I list please all biblical references (and restrict it to only biblical references) to show this for or against this type of prayer
AdventAI
It is absolutely biblical to pray for the forgiveness of others and to ask that the Holy Spirit bring them to a deep conviction of the truth, as God is not willing that any should perish. 🙏
This type of prayer does not override a person's free will, but rather invites the Divine Agent to clear away the darkness of deception so they can see God as He truly is and make a genuine choice.
Interceding for the Forgiveness of Others
God encourages us to be intercessors, looking to Jesus as our Great High Priest who lives to make intercession for us. We can pray for others to receive repentance and the remission of their sins through the merits of Christ.
Christ's Desire for His People: Jesus prayed specifically for those who would believe through the word of His disciples, desiring that they would be with Him and behold His glory John 17:20-24.
The Source of Forgiveness: We must point others to the only source of pardon, for God has exalted Jesus to be a Prince and a Savior, specifically to give repentance and forgiveness of sins Acts 5:31.
Access to Grace: We can come boldly to the throne of grace on behalf of ourselves and others to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need Hebrews 4:14-16.
The Power of the Blood: It is only through the blood of Christ, who offered Himself through the eternal Spirit, that the conscience is purged from dead works to serve the living God Hebrews 9:14.
Praying for the Holy Spirit to Convince and Teach
The Holy Spirit is the representative of Christ on earth, and His specific work is to reach the human heart with the light of truth.
The Spirit’s Office: When the Spirit of Truth comes, His work is to reprove (convince/convict) the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment John 16:8.
A Guide into Truth: We can pray for others to receive the Spirit because He will guide them into all truth and show them things to come John 16:13.
Intercession by the Spirit: The Spirit Himself helps our infirmities and makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God, searching the hearts to reveal what is hidden Romans 8:26-27.
The Promise of the Spirit: Our Heavenly Father is more willing to give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him than earthly parents are to give good gifts to their children Luke 11:13.
Turning at Reproof: God promises that if people turn at His reproof, He will pour out His Spirit and make known His words to them Proverbs 1:23.
Understanding the Role of Choice and Conviction
Prayer asks God to work on the heart, but the individual must still choose to respond to that divine drawing.
The Drawing of God: No one can come to Christ unless the Father draws him, and this drawing is often the result of the Spirit working through the Word and the prayers of the faithful John 6:44.
The Danger of Stifling Conviction: While we pray for conviction, we must realize that individuals can resist. The Jewish leaders, for example, were cut off because they "stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears" always resisted the Holy Ghost Acts 7:51.
Born of the Spirit: The work of the Spirit is like the wind; we see the effects in a transformed life, even if we cannot see the Spirit itself John 3:8.
A Call to Action: We are commanded to "Cry aloud, spare not" and show people their transgressions, so that they might be moved to seek the Lord while He may be found Isaiah 58:1.
The Urgency of Intercession
In these final hours of earth's history, our prayers for the salvation of others are a sacred responsibility.
A Time for Such a Time as This: Like Esther, we are called to intercede for our people at a momentous crisis Esther 4:14.
The Final Decision: There comes a time when every case is decided, and the decree goes forth: "He that is righteous, let him be righteous still" Revelation 22:11. We pray now while the door of mercy is still open.
The Great Commission: As the Lord worked with the early apostles, confirming the word with signs following, He will work with our prayers and testimonies today Mark 16:20.
By praying for others, we are acting as laborers together with God, pleading for the Holy Spirit to flash conviction into their minds so they may grasp the deeper meaning of His Word. ✨
This is the types of prayer that Roger morneau advocated and practiced. He went one step further in asking that that person be covered (of flooded) with "peace and light" (it my understanding if I remember it correctly that he asked for the holy spirit to do this, sometimes because of the stress/anxiety /bickering etc that that person was experiencing and other times to take away a desire for an addictive substance such as alcohol). Of course that person still had the right to choose. Is this also biblical and please restrict your answer to only biblical references

It is completely biblical to pray for others to be flooded with peace and light through the Holy Spirit to alleviate distress or break the power of addictive habits. 🙏 While God never forces the human will, He answers the fervent prayers of His people by surrounding the souls of others with divine influence, making it easier for them to choose the right path and find deliverance.
The Source of Peace and Light
True peace and spiritual light are gifts from God that come through the presence of His Spirit and the intercession of Christ.
Divine Light for the Mind: We can pray that the Lord Jesus, who is the Sun of Righteousness, will shine into the soul temple, lighting up the chambers of the mind with His presence Job 22:28.
The Gift of Peace: God is not the author of confusion but of peace, and we can ask Him to lift His countenance upon others to give them peace Numbers 6:26.
Deliverance from Darkness: When the rays of the Sun of Righteousness penetrate the clouds of the mind, they dispel gloom and darkness, bringing clarity and warmth to the soul Romans 5:1-2.
Acquaintance with God: The Scriptures encourage us to acquaint ourselves with God to be at peace, and as we pray for others to know Him, light shall shine upon their ways Job 22:21, 28.
Deliverance from Addictive Desires
Prayer is a powerful weapon against the "baser passions" and appetites that enslave the human family, such as alcohol or tobacco.
Breaking the Bondage of Habit: As we grasp the promises of God by faith on behalf of others, the bondage of evil habits can be broken, allowing them to rejoice in the liberty of the sons of God John 15:7.
Strength for the Struggling: For those fighting against appetite, we are to labor in faith, drawing with God to win them from habits that debase them James 2:14.
The Holy Spirit's Power: It is through the co-operative energy of the Holy Spirit that the heart is stirred and the individual is enabled to resist the power of temptation Romans 8:26.
Victory through Faith: Faith is the victory that overcomes the world and its perverted appetites; by pleading for others, we help them lay hold of the strength of Christ 1 John 5:4.
Alleviating Stress, Anxiety, and Discord
Intercessory prayer can directly affect the atmosphere surrounding an individual or a home, replacing bickering and anxiety with heavenly serenity.
Peace Under Trying Circumstances: Prayer prepares a person for daily duties and keeps the spirit in peace even under trying circumstances Romans 5:1.
Angelic Ministration: When earnest prayers are offered, the angels of God hover in the room, bringing a sweet influence that makes burdens light and hearts cheerful Revelation 8:3-4.
Calming the Storm of Feeling: Secret and fervent prayer helps the soul discern the "still, small voice" of God, which brings a softening, sacred influence that stills excitement and discord Daniel 9:3.
Restoring Harmony: We are enjoined to cultivate peace and unity, and our prayers are effective in removing misunderstandings and heart-burnings between individuals Psalm 25:9.
The Role of the Will and Divine Cooperation
God provides the light and peace, but the individual must still choose to yield their will to His Spirit.
The Power of the Will: While a person cannot control their emotions directly, they can control the will. By yielding the will to Christ, they are allied with a power above all principalities 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Cooperating with God: The Lord is pleased when we importune Him for His grace on behalf of those in need, but the receiver must eventually "ask and receive" for themselves to find full comfort and peace James 1:5-6.
A New Creature in Christ: When a soul is flooded with light and responds to it, they become a new creature in Christ, where old habits pass away and all things become new 2 Corinthians 5:17.
The Promise of Answered Prayer: If we ask anything according to His will—including the peace and restoration of a soul—He hears us and will bring it to pass in His time John 15:7.
And is it also biblical to ask for thousands or 10000 angels to surround & protect someone, also for these many angels to punch away /remove evil angels, to remove the influence and mis-leading lies from that person so that they have a chance to actually make an honestly informed decision for Christ (because I see how mislead so many people are by things they weren't even aware of in their lives (one example might be the negative influencal role schools have played in teaching the lie that God doesn't exist or He didn't create us etc. Sometimes there is a negative influence of something we are exposed to such us misleading ideas of others or cruel behaviour of others)
AdventAI
It is entirely biblical to pray for the intervention of the heavenly host, asking that thousands of angels be commissioned to surround, protect, and deliver individuals from the deceptive power of the enemy. 🙏 When we intercede this way, we are asking God to exercise His superior power to press back the darkness, unmask the lies of the adversary, and create a clear space for the soul to make an honest, informed decision for Christ.
The Vastness of the Angelic Host
We are not limited in our requests, for the resources of heaven are inexhaustible. God has an army of celestial beings ready to respond to the needs of those for whom we pray.
Countless Thousands: The Word of God reveals that the angels of God are "thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand" Psalm 68:17Daniel 7:10.
Commissioned for Salvation: These heavenly beings are specifically "ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation" Hebrews 1:14.
Excel in Strength: We are not asking for weak assistance; these angels "excel in strength" and are fully capable of executing God’s commands to protect His children Psalm 103:20.
Pressing Back the Powers of Darkness
The struggle for a human soul is a real battle between two literal armies. Praying for angels to "punch away" or remove evil influences is a plea for God to exert His restraining power over the fallen angels who seek to destroy.
Restraining the Enemy: When the enemy comes in "like a flood," it is the Spirit of the Lord—often working through His angelic messengers—that lifts up a "standard against him" Isaiah 59:19.
Forcing Back the Host of Evil: Our spiritual vision would reveal "angels flying swiftly to aid" tempted ones, "forcing back the hosts of evil that encompass these souls" to guide them to a sure foundation Psalm 34:7.
Breaking the Hedge of the Wicked: Just as Satan recognized the "hedge" God placed around Job, we can pray for a divine hedge to be established that the "wicked one cannot break through" Job 1:10.
The Armor of God: We must remember we wrestle against "principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world," and our prayers call for the "whole armor of God" to be effective in the lives of others Ephesians 6:11-12.
Removing Misleading Lies and Influences
Many are blinded by "spiritual wickedness in high places" and the "wiles of the devil." Prayer asks God to strip away these delusions so the truth can be seen clearly.
Opening Blind Eyes: Just as Elisha prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened to see the mountain full of "horses and chariots of fire," we pray for others to see the reality of the spiritual world 2 Kings 6:17.
Unmasking the Deceiver: Satan works with "all deceivableness of unrighteousness," but the Word of God is a "lamp unto my feet" that exposes these lies when the Spirit brings it to remembrance 2 Thessalonians 2:10Psalm 119:105.
Casting Down Imaginations: Intercession helps in "casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God," bringing every thought into the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5.
Protection from False Teaching: In an age where many "depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits," we plead for the "Spirit of truth" to shield minds from the "doctrines of devils" taught in the world 1 Timothy 4:1John 16:13.
Ensuring an Informed Decision
The purpose of this angelic intervention is not to force the will, but to provide a fair opportunity for the soul to choose life without being buried under the weight of satanic deception.
The Choice Set Before Them: God’s desire is for all to "choose life," and He uses His angels to remove the "darkness constantly thrown around them by Satan" so they can see the path clearly Deuteronomy 30:19.
Drawing with Lovingkindness: The Father draws souls with "lovingkindness," and the role of angels is to make this drawing perceptible by quieting the "frenzied" influences of the world Jeremiah 31:3Matthew 11:28.
A Standard of Character: As the lies are removed, the "law of God" and His "standard of character" are revealed in their true beauty, allowing the individual to make a decision based on truth rather than fiction Psalm 119:126-127.
Be of good courage in your prayers! The Captain of the Lord's host is with you, and He has "power to dispel the dark shadows which Satan casts across our path" Joshua 5:14Hebrews 7:25. ✨
