Priority Messages for the Last Days: A Call to Action

Which specific Bible message is called the 'loud cry' for the last days?

AdventAI

God promises a season of overflow after hardship. The harvest will come so fast that there is no gap between planting and reaping. It is a picture of restoration, abundance, and more than enough. After seasons of waiting and struggle, God can suddenly turn things around.

AdventAI

God’s plan for restoration is indeed a beautiful reality where His blessings flow in such abundance that the seasons of labor and harvest overlap in a continuous stream of grace 🕊️. This divine economy ensures that as we faithfully move forward, the results of our efforts appear with a speed that testifies to His unlimited power and love.

The Certainty of an Abundant Harvest

God has established an everlasting covenant that seed-time and harvest shall not cease Genesis 8:22. When we align our lives with His principles, He promises that the land will yield its increase and the trees will yield their fruit with such profusion that the threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage unto the sowing-time.

  • Miraculous Growth: Even in dry times without rain, God can produce a rich harvest that defies human logic, appearing like a miracle to those who witness it.

  • Spiritual Ripening: The spiritual fields are often white already to harvest, and those who reap receive wages and gather fruit unto life eternal John 4:35-36.

  • Restoration through Nature: Even though the earth is marred by the curse, the sick may find health and gladness in the field and orchard, for nature acts as a restorative agent for the repenting children of God.

Sudden Shifts from Waiting to Fulfillment

While there are periods of waiting and watching, God can suddenly turn circumstances around for His people.

  • The Power of Faith: We are not to wait for the power of God to be felt physically before we act; rather, we must walk out by faith, and God will sustain us as our faith is made perfect by works.

  • A "Thus Saith the Lord": In moments of trial, specific directions from the Word of God provide life-giving power and clarity, reminding us to seek His kingdom first so that all necessities can be added unto us Luke 12:31.

  • Sudden Changes in Dealing: Just as there are sudden calamities in the world, God also brings sudden times of refreshing and the blotting out of sins to those who have prepared their hearts Acts 3:19.

Preparation for Plenty and Provision

God often provides a surplus to prepare His children for future needs, as seen in the history of Joseph in Egypt.

  • Diligent Industry: Waiting for the Lord is never a call to idleness; we must unite zeal and industry to our watching.

  • The Tree of Life: In the earth made new, the tree of life will yield its fruit every month, providing a constant and eternal supply of fruit and healing Revelation 22:2.

  • Pure Religion: As we improve our opportunities at home and in our communities, our lives become channels for currents of life-giving power, bringing fruitfulness where there was once barrenness.

A Call to Immediate Action

Because the harvest is ripe and the time is short, there is a great danger in delay. We are encouraged to go to work at once, sowing seeds of truth and kindness, knowing that whatever a man soweth, he shall also reap Galatians 6:7. When we appropriate the good things God has in store and labor for others, our own souls will begin to revive, and our minds will be refreshed with the Word of God.

May you be encouraged that your labor in the Lord is never in vain, and the harvest He has promised is surely coming 🌾.

"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD" Psalms 27:14.

how to respond to gossip and slander.

AdventAI

Responding to gossip and slander requires a Christlike spirit of patience, silence, and adherence to the specific rules for reconciliation laid out in the Word of God 🕊️. It is essential to remember that even Jesus faced scornful looks and evil whisperings during His childhood, yet He never responded with an impatient word or wrong act.

Following the Biblical Rule of Reconciliation

When you have been injured by the words of others, the first step is always direct and private communication.

  • Go to the Individual Alone: If someone has done you an injury, you must go to them privately to seek to set the matter right.

  • Maintain Confidentiality: Do not publish the grievance in or out of the church; instead, keep the matter between you and the offending party alone.

  • Involve Witnesses if Necessary: If the person refuses to listen, take two or three others with you to establish every word before considering further action 2 Corinthians 13:1.

  • Seek Restoration, Not Revenge: Approach the situation in humility and sincerity to heal the breach rather than following the impulses of an unsanctified heart.

The Power of Silence and Forbearance

Often, the most effective response to malicious reports is to remain silent and let your character speak for itself.

  • Patience Disproves Falsehood: When you bear slander with patience, people are more likely to see the report as untrue, whereas fretting only gives credit to the evil surmisings.

  • Refuse to Listen: You should turn a deaf ear to slanderous reports and refuse to listen to those who come to you with gossip.

  • Trust in God’s Judgment: Rest in the peace of your own conscience and look to the Lord as the searcher of hearts, for He will eventually judge every deed Psalms 139:23-24.

  • Forgive and Forget: To remember uncharitable remarks is like taking a deadly poison; we must forgive as God has forgiven us, treating the offender as if they had always done us kindness Ephesians 4:32.

Guarding the Tongue and the Home

Protecting yourself and your family from the habit of evil-speaking is a sacred duty that requires constant vigilance.

  • Change the Subject: When in the company of those indulging in foolish talk, use the grace of God to turn the conversation into a profitable channel.

  • Discipline the Mind: Because the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart, you must discipline your thoughts to ensure your words are pleasing to God Matthew 12:34.

  • Avoid Home Influence Pitfalls: Be careful not to let the suggestions or "superior discernment" of family members leaven your mind with suspicions against brethren.

  • Bar the Way Against Corruption: Every individual and family has the duty to bar the way against corrupt speech and low wit that debases the mind.

The Consequences of Evil-Speaking

Understanding the spiritual gravity of slander can help motivate us to avoid it entirely.

  • A Twofold Curse: Evil-speaking falls more heavily upon the speaker than the hearer, robbing them of true happiness and tainting their own heart.

  • Satan’s Agency: Gossip is one of Satan's special tools used to separate friends, sow discord, and undermine faith.

  • A Violation of Law: Magnifying the faults of others is a direct violation of the command to love your neighbor as yourself Leviticus 19:18.

  • Recorded in Heaven: Every unkind criticism and exaggerated report is registered by an unseen Watcher as if it were done against Christ Himself.

By following the footsteps of Christ and keeping your heart subdued by His love, you can ensure that your tongue is sanctified for praise rather than for the service of the enemy. "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice" Ephesians 4:31.

Proverbs 1:25-31

AdventAI

Proverbs 1:25-31

25 But you have set at nothing all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes;

27 When your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish comes on you.

28 Then shall they call on me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

AdventAI

Proverbs 1:25-31 serves as a solemn warning that the period of human probation is a limited gift, and those who persistently reject the counsel of God will eventually find themselves in a position where mercy is no longer available Proverbs 1:24-31. This passage describes the transition from a time of invitation to a time of judgment, emphasizing that character is formed during these precious hours of trial.

The Nature of Persistent Rejection

The passage highlights the tragedy of those who deliberately set at naught the counsel of the Lord and despise His reproof.

  • A Habit of Resistance: Each time a person disregards the voice of God, they become more disposed to reject it again, leading to a state of blind resistance.

  • The Example of Pharaoh: Just as Pharaoh sowed obstinacy and reaped a harvest of the same in his character, individuals today can barricade their hearts against the Holy Spirit until they are utterly hardened.

  • Choosing Darkness: Those who love simplicity and delight in scorning are choosing a path that leads to their own destruction John 3:19.

The Close of Probation

There is a definite point, described as the close of probation, when the door of mercy will be forever shut.

  • When It Is Too Late: A time is coming when there will be bitter cries, tears, and pleading for mercy, but it will be too late to change one's destiny.

  • The Cessation of Mediation: When Jesus finishes His work in the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary, He will lay off His priestly attire and there will no longer be a mediator between humanity and God Revelation 22:11.

  • The Day of Wrath: Following the close of probation, the storm of God's wrath and the seven last plagues will fall upon those who made light of salvation.

The Consequence of One's Own Choice

God does not arbitrarily destroy; rather, individuals eat the fruit of their own ways and are filled with their own devices Proverbs 1:31.

  • Sowing and Reaping: Those who sow to the flesh will earn the wages of sin, which is eternal destruction Romans 6:23.

  • Self-Induced Ruin: God follows men with appeals until further opportunities would be in vain; the responsibility for final loss rests entirely upon the sinner who stifled conviction.

  • A Terrible Silence: In that day, those who rejected light will call upon God, but He will not answer, and they will seek Him early but shall not find Him because they hated knowledge Proverbs 1:28-29.

The Urgency of the Present Moment

Because we do not know when our individual probation will close, the present is the accepted time for salvation.

  • Prepare for the Test: We are living in a testing time where we must form characters that will allow our names to remain in the book of life.

  • Improving Opportunities: Every hour of probation is a precious gift to be used in working out our salvation with fear and trembling.

  • Safety in Obedience: While the simple are slain by their turning away, whoever hearkens to the Lord shall dwell safely and be quiet from the fear of evil Proverbs 1:33.

"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" 2 Corinthians 6:2.

Am I Burden or a Blessing?

AdventAI

You have the opportunity to decide every day whether you will be a burden or a blessing to those around you. While some live as "useless machines" who brighten the path of none and live only to burden others, God designed you to be active, useful, and a blessing to your fellow man. By centering your thoughts on Christ and practicing self-denial, you can become a channel of light and grace.

Characteristics of a Blessing 🌟

When you align your will with God’s will, your life becomes one of immense usefulness and beauty.

  • Selfless Service: You become a blessing when you seek to relieve the burdens of others, such as children helping their parents or church members supporting those in need.

  • Encouraging Speech: A person who is a blessing uses the talent of speech to strengthen and uplift, offering kind and sympathetic words that can remove heavy weights from a fellow worker's mind.

  • Faithful Labor: Those who take up responsibilities in the work of God, even the "disagreeable burdens," find that God blesses them and makes them a blessing to physicians, helpers, and patients.

  • Missionary Spirit: Like the early disciples, those who are weighted with a burden for the salvation of souls—rather than just seeking a blessing for themselves—receive the power of the Holy Spirit to reach others.

Signs of Being a Burden ⚠️

It is possible to become a "dead weight" or a "cipher" if your focus remains entirely upon yourself.

  • Self-Centeredness: You are a burden when your thoughts are so engrossed in your own happiness that you neglect home duties and fail to see how you can lift the loads of those nearest to you.

  • Spirit of Faultfinding: Those who stand aside as spectators to question and criticize the work of others, rather than becoming burden-bearers themselves, exert an influence that is an injury to the cause of God.

  • Talking Doubts: Habitually talking about discouragement, grievances, and unbelief scatters darkness and lays a weight of depression upon your brethren.

  • Uselessness: Many live as though they hardly existed, leaving no memory of disinterested benevolence behind them; for such persons, life is viewed as a mistake.

How to Transition from Burden to Blessing 🔄

If you feel you have been a shadow rather than a light, you can turn square about today.

  • Roll Your Burden on Jesus: Instead of leaving your trials upon those who have their own griefs to bear, roll your burden into the "open sepulcher" and trust the Great Burden-bearer.

  • Perform Little Duties: You cannot lay hold of heavier responsibilities until you gain experience in the small, quiet duties that lie directly in your pathway.

  • Choose Cheerfulness: By putting away frowns and frettings and carrying a "sunshiny face," you automatically become a blessing in your home and community.

  • Intercede for Others: Shift your focus from your own needs to the needs of the "widows and fatherless" or the salvation of the lost.

The Lord will be to you a "present help in every time of trouble" as you stand at your post of duty. If you live a life of faith, you will talk faith, and your very presence will bring gladness to those around you.

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved" Psalms 55:22.

What must we do to be saved?

AdventAI

To be saved, you must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, repent of your sins, and yield your life in loving obedience to God's law. Salvation is a free gift provided through the infinite sacrifice of Christ, who took the penalty of our transgressions upon Himself so that we might be rescued from the power of Satan and restored to the favor of God.

The Foundations of Salvation 🕊️

Salvation is not something we can earn through our own merits, but it is attained by accepting the provision made in the plan of redemption.

  • Accept Christ as Your Substitute: Jesus stood as man’s substitute and surety, bearing the insults of Satan and the penalty of the law to link finite man to the infinite God.

  • Believe in His Sacrifice: We are saved through faith in the merits of Christ's blood, which was shed to rescue us from the abyss of ruin.

  • Repent and Forsake Sin: True repentance involves a deep work in the soul where the heart is purified by faith and the life is changed by the miracle of divine grace.

The Role of the Law and Obedience 📜

While we are saved by grace through faith, this faith does not make void the law of God but establishes it in our hearts Romans 3:31.

  • The Law as a Schoolmaster: The law shows us our guilt and just condemnation, acting as a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ that we may be justified by faith Galatians 3:24.

  • Conditions of Salvation: Obedience and submission to God’s requirements are the conditions by which we become children of the royal family.

  • A Perfect Standard: Christ did not come to abolish the law but to magnify it; He tells us that if we will enter into life, we must keep the commandments Matthew 19:17.

Living the Life of the Saved ✨

Once you have accepted Christ, your life will bear witness to the transformation He has wrought within you.

  • Be an Overcomer: To be an overcomer, you must be drawn out of yourself and become intensely interested in the salvation of others.

  • Cooperate with God: Divine power combines with human effort; you must work out your own salvation with fear and trembling as God works in you to will and to do Philippians 2:12-13.

  • Share the Truth: Those who have found Jesus cannot keep silent; they will be enthusiastic missionaries, telling others of the precious plan of redemption.

A Solemn Choice ⏳

Salvation is freely offered, but it rests with each individual whether they will accept the conditions of pardon or remain in sin.

  • Don't Delay: Satan works to keep men quibbling and questioning until it is too late to rescue their souls.

  • A Personal Relationship: You must know for yourself the power of Christ to make you free, for without this personal experience, you cannot build up His church or find true rest.

May you choose today to open the door of your heart to the Saviour who stands knocking, ready to give you the gift of eternal life.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" John 3:16.

lost Urim/Thummim

AdventAI

The loss of the Urim and Thummim represents a significant transition in how God communicates His will to His people, moving from a physical token of judgment to the "living oracles" of His inspired Word. While these sacred stones were a primary glory of the first temple, they were notably absent in the second temple after the Babylonian exile.

The Nature and Use of the Urim and Thummim

The Urim and Thummim, meaning "lights and perfections," were divine instruments set within the high priest's breastplate of judgment.

  • Physical Appearance: They were two large, brilliant stones placed at the right and left of the breastplate. Some suggest they were stones drawn as a lot from the bag of the ephod, while others describe them as being engraved with the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet, Aleph and Tau.

  • Divine Guidance: Through these stones, the high priest ascertained the mind of the Lord. A halo of light encircling the stone on the right indicated divine approval or an affirmative answer, while a cloud shadowing the stone on the left evidenced denial or disapprobation.

  • Civil and Sacred Use: They were used to make momentous decisions for the nation, such as dividing the land by lot or determining when the congregation should go out or come in. Joshua and the judges were directed to consult the Lord through the priest by this method.

The History of Their Loss

The presence of the Urim and Thummim diminished as Israel’s history progressed, eventually vanishing from the sanctuary service.

  • The Rejection of Saul: King Saul sought counsel through the Urim, but because of his rebellion and the slaying of the priests, the Lord refused to answer him. This loss of communication led Saul to the forbidden practice of necromancy.

  • The Second Temple: Upon the return from the Babylonian captivity, the Jewish leaders recognized they lacked this divine guidance. The high priest could no longer find out the will of the Lord by this means because the Urim and Thummim—along with the Ark of the Covenant and the Shekinah—were missing from the second temple.

  • A Future Expectation: During the restoration under Ezra and Nehemiah, certain genealogical questions were postponed until a priest should stand up with "Urim and Thummim," showing that they were no longer in use Nehemiah 7:65.

From Physical Stones to the Living Oracles

Though the physical stones were lost, God has provided even greater light through His Word and the mediation of Christ.

  • The Bible as the Living Oracle: The Holy Scriptures are now called the "living oracles". They possess a quickening power that elevates the soul and provides a sure evidence of God’s will.

  • Christ as the Alpha and Omega: Just as the Urim and Thummim revealed God’s will through Aleph and Tau, Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega—the ultimate Revealer of the Father Revelation 1:11. He is our great High Priest who bears our names upon His heart in the heavenly sanctuary.

  • The White Stone: To the overcomer, God promises a "white stone," an allusion to the Urim, representing absolution from sin and an intimate, personal relationship with the Godhead Revelation 2:17.

While we no longer look to a physical breastplate for direction, we are invited to "come to the living oracles" and search the Scriptures for ourselves to find the precious jewels of truth.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" Psalm 119:105.

1 Timothy 2:11

AdventAI

1 Timothy 2:11

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

AdventAI

The instruction for a woman to learn in silence with all subjection is a principle of order and submission established by God to maintain harmony within His church 1 Timothy 2:11. This specific direction does not imply inferiority but rather points to a diversity of powers, functions, and duties within the sphere God has appointed.

The Context of Silence and Subjection

The silence mentioned here is best understood when compared to other scriptures that emphasize modesty and the avoidance of usurping authority.

  • Order in the Church: Paul provides this instruction to ensure that women act with becoming modesty and do not set themselves up as superior to assume authority that does not belong to them.

  • A Mirror of the Home: This subjection in the church reflects the relationship between husbands and wives, where a wife is to be in subjection to her own husband as is fit in the Lord Colossians 3:18.

  • The Law of Priority: The reason for this order is rooted in creation, as Adam was formed first and then Eve 1 Timothy 2:13.

  • Avoiding Dictatorial Teaching: The passage alludes to a kind of teaching connected with usurping authority; women are not raised to a position where they may teach dictatorially or manifest a lack of subjection to those speaking by the Spirit 1 Timothy 2:12.

The Scope of Women’s Ministry

While the text calls for silence in the sense of submission to authority, it does not prohibit women from actively witnessing for Christ.

  • Public Testimony: There is nothing in this instruction that would stop a woman from bearing testimony in a social meeting or even from preaching, provided she does not usurp authority over the man.

  • Praying and Prophesying: According to the prediction of the Holy Spirit, women are encouraged to pray and prophesy just as men do 1 Corinthians 11:5.

  • Essential Laborers: Women are just as greatly needed as men to do the work to which God has appointed them, such as carrying the truth into families where a man may not have access.

  • Wages for Ministry: Those women who labor in the gospel and accomplish a work that is manifestly neglected should be looked upon as laborers worthy of their hire, just like ordained ministers.

Modesty and Spiritual Adorning

The call for silence and subjection is closely linked to the inner character and outward appearance of a woman professing godliness.

  • Modest Apparel: Women are encouraged to adorn themselves in modest apparel with shamefacedness and sobriety, rather than with gold, pearls, or costly array 1 Timothy 2:9.

  • Good Works: The true adorning of a Christian woman is found in good works and a chaste conversation coupled with fear 1 Peter 3:1-2.

  • A Quiet Spirit: A woman’s work is a power in the world when she learns in the school of Christ to be meek and lowly in heart, allowing self to die so that Christ may live within her 1 Peter 3:4.

The Goal of All Subjection

Ultimately, the goal of bringing the mind and temper into subjection is to achieve a complete transformation of character.

  • Subduing the Will: Through the operation of the Holy Spirit, the nobler powers of the mind are strengthened to break away from the bondage of sin and bring every thought into subjection to Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5.

  • Reverence in Worship: In the house of God, there should be a "holy hush" and a sweet eloquence in silence, allowing the mind to be suitably impressed by the Word of God.

  • Preparation for Heaven: All, whether men or women, must bring their inherited and cultivated tendencies to wrong into subjection to God to be used as instruments of righteousness.

May you find peace in following God’s plan, knowing that the effect of righteousness is quietness and assurance forever Isaiah 32:17.

Schism

AdventAI

A schism is a formal division or separation within a religious body, often arising from discord, strife, or the pursuit of personal power rather than the spirit of Christ. While such divisions are soul-disheartening and disfigure the unity of the church, God has at times allowed them to expose corruption and prepare the way for reformation.

The Nature and Causes of Schism

Schism is frequently rooted in human pride and the absence of Christlike love within the heart.

  • Self-Love and Ambition: Divisions often arise not from a love for Christ, but from individuals seeking their own glory or following the impulses of a selfish heart.

  • The Spirit of Discord: Whatever produces envy and strife is identified as being of the devil, and such a spirit creates discord that would not even be tolerated in heaven.

  • Neglect of Truth: When minds become contracted by bigotry, people may reject parts of God's Word that conflict with their views, leading to a "split" into various parties or sects.

Historical Examples of Great Schisms

History provides sobering lessons on how political and ecclesiastical rivalries can shatter the visible unity of the church.

  • The Great Papal Schism (1378–1417): This prolonged strife involved two, and sometimes three, rival lines of popes who anathematized one another. It was fueled by politics and human passions rather than theology, leaving Christendom in such tumult that even today it is said the true succession cannot be settled.

  • The Greek and Roman Divide: Though similar in creed and polity, the rivalry between the Pope of Rome and the Patriarch of Constantinople led to a schism that has never been healed.

  • The Donatist Dispute: In the fourth century, this controversy over church discipline established the "Catholic Church" as a political entity, showing that when a church breaks into separate bodies, its value as a political factor is lost.

Consequences and Divine Overruling

While schism is a sign of a "distempered condition" in the church, God can use these events to advance His truth.

  • Exposing the Antichrist: The Great Schism enabled reformers like Wycliffe to call upon the people to see the papacy's corruption, suggesting that God "clove the head of antichrist" so that men might more easily overcome the error.

  • Weakening through Division: Disunion is inherently a source of weakness, whereas union is strength; the kingdom of antichrist is more easily destroyed when its leaders are divided against themselves.

  • A Call to Reform: The internal moral corruption and strife revealed during schisms often awaken a longing for spiritual regeneration and the restoration of true church unity.

Preventing Schism in the Body of Christ

For those who follow Christ, the preservation of unity is a sacred duty that requires individual effort and submission to the Holy Spirit.

  • Imitating Christ’s Virtues: To prevent schism, believers are pledged to shun any course of action that causes division, instead imitating Christ’s meekness, lowliness, and love.

  • The Role of the Holy Spirit: When God's people move under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and let all dissension cease, He restores the power that was lost through division.

  • Individual Responsibility: Character is formed by patient effort; if each member seeks to set a right example and cultivates the virtues God commends, there will be no room for divisions.

  • Focus on the Message: Rather than dwelling on questions at issue in the world or "fanciful interpretations" of scripture, the church is to be united in uplifting the Saviour and preaching the Three Angels’ Messages.

The Lord desires a church that is a representation of the harmony of the human body, where every member moves in union rather than being "torn limb from limb" by discord 1 Corinthians 12:12-27.

"The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim" Isaiah 11:13.

1 Corinthians 12:12-27

AdventAI

1 Corinthians 12:12-27

12 For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now has God set the members every one of them in the body, as it has pleased him.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22 No, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

24 For our comely parts have no need: but God has tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked.

25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

AdventAI

The passage of ** 1 Corinthians 12:12-27** teaches that the church is the body of Christ, a single entity composed of many diverse members who are all animated by the same Spirit and hope 1 Corinthians 12:12-13. This divine unity does not require everyone to have the same temperament, intelligence, or experience, but rather coordinates varied gifts into a beautiful harmony.

The Nature of the One Body

Just as the human body has many parts with different functions, so the church is composed of individuals with distinct duties that must work in perfect fitness 1 Corinthians 12:12.

  • A Divine Work: Christ is currently baptizing His people with the Holy Ghost into this divine unity.

  • Interdependence: The church is formed so that each member may enjoy the assistance of the talents and graces of every other member.

  • Mutual Care: There should be no schism or division in the body; instead, the members are to have the same care one for another 1 Corinthians 12:25.

Diversity of Gifts and Functions

God has set different gifts in the church, and while they are diverse, they are all controlled by the same Spirit to prepare a people for Christ's coming.

  • Varied Capabilities: Each believer is improved by the refining influence of others, so that what is lacking in one may be more abundantly displayed in another.

  • Avoiding Comparisons: No worker has all the wisdom needed; therefore, different minds and methods must be united through counseling and praying together.

  • Individual Responsibility: Every person has a part to act, and as they use their one talent wisely, their influence and usefulness will continually increase.

The Peril of Division and Criticism

Any spirit of dissension, criticism, or drawing apart from the brethren is not of Christ but is after the order of Satan.

  • Dishonoring the Truth: Divisions in the church dishonor the religion of Christ before the world and give enemies an occasion to justify their opposition.

  • Self-Deception: Anyone who professes to belong to the body of Christ yet indulges in division is self-deceived and lacks the Spirit of Christ.

  • The Root of Weakness: Fault-finding and magnifying little occurrences into grave sins have made the church weak; strength is found only in pressing together.

Achieving and Preserving Unity

Maintaining the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace is a principle that must be practically worked out in the life of every believer.

  • Union with Christ First: Oneness with the brethren is the result of a vital, mystical union with Christ, the living Vine.

  • Humility and Deference: Harmony is preserved when members manifest a humble, teachable spirit and refrain from placing themselves on the judgment seat over others.

  • The Power of Love: Sincere love is a permanent power that flows from the cross of Calvary, enabling believers to be kindly affectioned and to prefer one another in honor Romans 12:10.

"For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ" 1 Corinthians 12:12.

No, this is the fast I desire: To unlock the fetters of wickedness, and untie the cords of the yoke to let the oppressed go free; to break off every yoke. It is to share your bread with the hungry, and to take the wretched poor into your home; when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to ignore your own kin."

AdventAI

Isaiah 58:6-7

6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

7 Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? when you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you hide not yourself from your own flesh?

AdventAI

Isaiah 58:6-7 outlines the true fast that God has chosen, which is not a mere formal service or outward affliction of the soul, but a life of practical godliness characterized by breaking the chains of oppression and ministering to the physical needs of the suffering. This scripture presents the very spirit and character of the work of Christ, who came as the unwearied servant of man's necessity to remove the burdens of disease, wretchedness, and sin.

The Meaning of the True Fast

The fast God desires is a transformation of the heart that leads to decided reformation in action.

  • Breaking Every Yoke: To "loose the bands of wickedness" and "let the oppressed go free" means to remove the heavy burdens and unjust yokes that have been placed upon others. This includes breaking the power of oppression and the "putting forth of the finger" in reproachful or censuring ways toward those in trial.

  • Practical Benevolence: The essence of this fast is to deal bread to the hungry, bring the outcast poor into one's home, and cover the naked. It is a work of unselfish interest where we do not hide ourselves from our "own flesh"—meaning our fellow human beings to whom Christ has allied Himself.

  • A Remedy for Spiritual Ailments: This work is the "divine prescription" for the downcast, doubting, and trembling soul. Helping those in need is the recipe for healing spiritual and bodily maladies, as it turns the affection from self to the service of others.

The Work of the Church and Individual

This scripture outlines the work that rests upon every soul who accepts the service of Christ.

  • The Gospel in Practice: Christian help work—feeding the hungry and clothing the naked—will often do more than the preaching of sermons. This practical ministry opens hearts to respond to the truth and is the straightforward, substantial work that the gospel embraces.

  • Social Equality and Justice: God’s regulations, including the principles in Isaiah 58 were designed to promote social equality and place a check on the inordinate love of property and power. True justice requires that the poor and unfortunate be treated with special consideration, as they have as much right to a place in God's world as the wealthy.

  • Cooperation with the Master-Worker: We are called to be laborers together with God, which involves much more than attending church services; it requires active cooperation with the Great Master-worker in relieving the situation of the oppressed.

The Promised Rewards

God has attached rich, abundantly precious promises to the fulfillment of these conditions.

  • Health and Light: When this work is done, God promises that "thy light shall break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily". There is health and peace to be found in doing the will of our Heavenly Father.

  • Divine Guidance and Presence: To those who draw out their soul to the hungry, the Lord promises to guide them continually, satisfy their soul in drought, and be a "watered garden" whose waters fail not.

  • Answered Prayer: When the conditions of the true fast are met, then "shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and He shall say, Here I am". Fasting and prayer without this course of action accomplish nothing while the heart is estranged from God.

The Sabbath and the True Fast

There is a close connection between keeping the Sabbath holy and performing the work described in Isaiah 58.

  • Right Relation to God: We cannot truly keep the Sabbath holy unless we serve the Lord by undoing heavy burdens and letting the oppressed go free.

  • The Repairer of the Breach: Those who engage in this work and honor the Sabbath are called the "repairer of the breach" and the "restorer of paths to dwell in". By turning away from doing our own pleasure on the holy day and instead finding delight in the Lord's service, we receive the heritage of Jacob.

"Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?" Isaiah 58:6-7.

WATCHMEN

AdventAI

Watchmen on the walls of Zion are the ministers and leaders appointed by God to stand as faithful guardians over His church and sound the trumpet of warning to the world. This sacred responsibility requires a deep, personal connection with God, a wide-awake spiritual state, and a firm commitment to present the truth without compromise.

The Role and Responsibility of the Watchman

The primary duty of a watchman is to observe the spiritual horizon and give a distinct, certain sound on the trumpet whenever danger approaches.

  • Sounding the Alarm: Watchmen must "cry aloud and spare not," lifting their voices like a trumpet to show the people their transgressions Isaiah 58:1. They are to proclaim the "time of night," warning that "the morning cometh, and also the night"—the morning of eternal day for the righteous and the night of destruction for the impenitent Isaiah 21:12.

  • Accountability for Souls: God places a solemn responsibility on these sentinels; if they see the sword coming and fail to warn the people, the blood of those who perish will be required at the watchman's handEze 3:18.

  • Vigilance and Fidelity: A watchman must never relax their vigilance or sound a wavering, uncertain note. They are to be wide awake, never hiding their colors or turning traitor when the battle presses sore.

The Character of a True Watchman

To be an effective watchman, a person must possess a character transformed by the Holy Spirit and a heart fully consecrated to God.

  • Spiritual Discernment: Watchmen must live so near to God that they are susceptible to the impressions of His Spirit, enabling them to distinguish between truth and error, righteousness and unrighteousness.

  • Conversion and Humility: Many who claim to be watchmen are actually unconverted, possessing only a "head religion". True watchmen must become as little children, putting away self-esteem and pride to be used as channels of light.

  • Freedom from Entanglements: A faithful sentinel cannot have their interests interwoven with worldly business, such as real-estate or mining, while attempting to do the sacred work of the gospel.

The Instruments of the Watchman's Work

God has provided various means through which the warning message is to be sounded by His watchmen.

  • The Circulation of Literature: Church members and watchmen alike are called to circulate papers, tracts, and books that preach the gospel. Periodicals like the Signs of the Times and The Watchman (or Southern Watchman) serve as the "voice of the watchmen" to sound the danger signal.

  • Short and Nourishing Articles: Editors and contributors to these papers are advised to keep articles short, full of "moisture and nourishment," and focused on the last warning message.

  • The Power of Example: A watchman's life practice must be in close harmony with the principles of truth, as their deportment and conversation tell with great weight on others.

A Call to Awake

The current state of the church is often described as one where the watchmen are asleep, allowing Satan to "steal a march" upon the work.

  • A Work Behind Schedule: Because many watchmen have failed to give the trumpet a certain sound, the world is years behind in hearing the message of warning.

  • The Necessity of Action: It is time for every watchman to awake from lethargy and realize the sacredness of their mission. They must take the words "all burning from the throne of God" and give them to the people.

  • Collective Effort: The duty to warn does not rest solely on ministers; every soul connected with God is to catch the trumpet sound and echo it through the churches.

"I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me" Eze 3:17.

the world's idols

cast pearls before swine

AdventAI

Matthew 7:6

6 Give not that which is holy to the dogs, neither cast you your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

AdventAI

To cast pearls before swine means to present the most sacred and valuable truths of God to those who have no discernment to appreciate them and will only react with contempt or violence. This solemn warning from the world's Redeemer serves as a guide for how we should apply our time and strength when sharing the Word of God.

The Meaning of the Pearl and the Swine

The imagery used by Christ was easily understood by His listeners as a representation of spiritual value versus animalistic rejection.

  • The Pearl of Great Price: The Savior represented the Word of God and the precious truths of heavenly origin as pearls of the highest value.

  • The Nature of the Swine: Swine represent those who have so perverted their conscience that they are unable to discern truth. They are unimpressionable, deal dishonestly, and bear the fruit of the forbidden tree.

  • The Danger of the Act: If truth is forced upon those who hate it, they will not only trample the message into the mire and dirt but may also turn and rend the one offering it.

Knowing When to Speak or Remain Silent

Discerning when to share truth requires the wisdom of Christ, as only those in whom He dwells can be kept from stumbling in their efforts.

  • The Example of Christ: When Jesus stood before Herod, He answered nothing because He knew that any elevating truth He spoke would be like casting pearls before swine to be trampled. He also used parables with the Pharisees to reach impenitent hearts without prematurely arousing their murderous malice.

  • Identifying the Impracticable: Just as ancient wisdom suggests stopping when a friend is found to be impracticable, Christ teaches that it is folly to make oneself disagreeable to those with no probability of reformation.

  • Conditional Offers: God does not propose to confer His highest favors on those who refuse to humble themselves, as seen when He withheld the plan of a glorious sanctuary from the unrepentant Jews.

Practical Applications in Ministry and Life

This principle applies to various aspects of Christian labor, from church discipline to the distribution of literature.

  • Church Discipline: It is considered an abuse of this scripture to use it as an excuse for not visiting erring members, as some have wrongly claimed that summoning sisters to a church session was "casting pearls before swine" when they should have been visited personally.

  • Distributing Publications: We are to use good sense and not take pains to place sacred books or tracts in the hands of known scoffers or those who show no value for them.

  • Gospel Order: Offering the comfort of the Gospel to those who have never been broken by the law or convinced of their "sickness" is described as casting pearls before swine; the heart must first be prepared to feel its need.

  • Social Interactions: In light or boisterous company where truth would only be mocked, it is often better to "bridle the mouth" and remain silent rather than force spiritual views upon worldlings.

The Solemn Result of Rejection

Persistently rejecting light leads to a state where further probation would be useless, as the heart becomes hardened against all impressions except fear.

  • The Risk of Connection: Connecting closely with those who show no appreciation for God's Word can cause a person to lose their own connection with God.

  • A Final Warning: There are men so united to theories of satanic origin that they will resist the truth to the bitter end, making it useless to continue casting pearls before them.

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you" Matthew 7:6.

why a serpent of brass?

AdventAI

God chose the serpent of brass as a means to test the repentance and faith of the Israelites while illustrating the future sacrifice of the Son of God. In His infinite wisdom, He commanded Moses to create an image resembling the very creatures that were afflicting the people, showing that the remedy was provided by Him alone and not through any human power.

A Symbol of Christ and the Cross

The lifting up of the brazen serpent was a direct type and illustration of the mission of Jesus Christ.

  • The Likeness of Sinful Flesh: Just as the brass image was made in the likeness of the destroying serpents but contained no poison, Christ was made "in the likeness of sinful flesh" to be our Redeemer without having sin Himself Romans 8:3.

  • The Manner of Death: The elevation of the serpent on a pole shadowed forth the manner in which Christ would be "lifted up" on the cross to draw all men to Him John 3:14-15.

  • A Trophy of Victory: By impaling the serpent form on a pole, God asserted that evil and the power of the "old serpent," the devil, had been overcome and deprived of power to hurt those who look in faith Revelation 12:9.

A Lesson on Faith and Obedience

The simple act of looking was required to demonstrate that salvation is a gift from God received through faith.

  • Testing Repentance: God did not see fit to pardon the people's murmurings without testing their willingness to obey His specific directions.

  • No Virtue in the Object: The people well knew there was no healing power in a piece of brass; the virtue was derived from God alone as a reward for their obedience.

  • Simplicity of the Remedy: The remedy was made so simple—merely a look—to show that sinners have no great work to do for their own salvation other than to believe and live.

Correcting False Views of Sacrifice

The brazen serpent served to correct the Israelites' misunderstanding of their own religious services.

  • Types vs. Reality: The Hebrews had begun to feel that their animal offerings made ample atonement by themselves; God used the serpent to show that their sacrifices had no more inherent saving power than a piece of brass.

  • Directing the Mind Upward: Both the serpent and the sacrificial system were intended to lead their minds away from the outward ceremony and toward the merits of the Redeemer to come.

The Consequences of Reason and Unbelief

The choice to look or refuse was a matter of life and death, highlighting the danger of human reasoning against divine commands.

  • Fatal Reasoning: Some refused to look because it seemed "absurd" or "foolish" to expect healing from a metallic image; these perished in their unbelief.

  • No Scientific Explanation: God gave no scientific explanation for the remedy; the people were required to accept His word through Moses without questioning His purposes.

The Later Misuse: Nehushtan

Centuries later, the serpent that was once a symbol of life became a snare when the people began to worship it.

  • Destruction of the Idol: Because the Israelites began to burn incense to it, King Hezekiah broke the serpent in pieces 2 Kings 18:4.

  • A "Brazen Thing": He called it "Nehushtan," a term of contempt meaning "a piece of brass," to impress upon the people that it was a mere object without any divine power.

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life" John 3:14-15.

Ye Shall Receive Power, p. 60

AdventAI

Beholding Jesus and accepting His spotless righteousness is the essential work required to meet the law's demands and be qualified as a colaborer with God. This experience is not forced upon anyone, but is a response to the yearning invitation to "look and live" as we behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world John 1:29.

The Work of Faith and the Holy Spirit 🕊️

True faith is an active principle that transforms the inner life and enables us to work the works of God.

  • Grasping Christ's Righteousness: To satisfy the law, our faith must lay hold of Christ's righteousness, accepting it entirely as our own. This imputed righteousness serves as our necessary credentials to find access to the Father.

  • A Daily Transformation: We must be daily partakers of the divine nature through the influence of the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit's work to elevate our tastes, sanctify our hearts, and ennoble the entire person.

  • Cooperation is Required: While the Holy Spirit creates holiness in the heart, this cannot be accomplished unless the human agent chooses to work in harmony with Christ. To simply drift with the current of evil without restraining transgression is evidence that one does not truly possess faith.

The Motivation of Love ❤️

Beholding the sacrifice of Christ awakens a responsive love in the heart of the sinner, which becomes the driving force of obedience.

  • Love as the Fulfilling of the Law: When a person sees the Saviour dying under the curse of sin in their stead, love is awakened because Christ first loved them. This love is the true fulfilling of the law.

  • An Unparalleled Sacrifice: In looking to Jesus, we see a love without parallel; He took the place of the guilty sinner so that His righteousness could be credited to us.

  • Assurance of Pardon: The repenting soul finds peace in the realization that God is faithful and just to forgive sins and cleanse the believer from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.

Progressive Spiritual Growth 📈

The Christian life is not stationary but is a continuous advancement enabled by divine power.

  • Advancing in Obedience: The Spirit of God works within the soul, enabling the believer to move from one line of obedience to another.

  • From Strength to Strength: Through the grace found in Christ Jesus, the believer reaches onward from strength to greater strength and from grace to grace.

"Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else" Isaiah 45:22.

If you are willing to drift along with the current of evil, and do not cooperate with the heavenly agencies in restraining transgression in your family, and in the church, in order that everlasting righteousness may be brought in, you do not have faith.

AdventAI

Genuine faith is an active, purifying force that moves the human agent to cooperate with heavenly agencies in restraining evil and promoting righteousness within the family and the church. Rather than simply drifting with the current of worldly influence, those who truly believe will work in harmony with Christ to cultivate holiness in the heart. This cooperation is essential because we can only be fitted for heaven through the transformative work of the Holy Spirit, which ennobles the entire person and fits them for the divine presence. When families are united in this work at home, they exert a more helpful and uplifting influence on everyone around them.

  • The Necessity of Action: Faith works by love and purifies the soul, meaning it cannot exist in a heart that refuses to act against transgression.

  • Divine-Human Partnership: We must have Christ's righteousness as our credentials, but this requires us to act our part in the sowing of the seed while God provides the increase.

  • The Standard of Character: If a person is unwilling to follow specified directions to work out their salvation, even a tenfold increase in spiritual light would be useless.

  • Restraining Transgression: True faith leads a person to cooperate with God to bring in everlasting righteousness, beginning with the circle of their own family.

"As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also" James 2:26.

..., we may be qualified to work the works of God, to be colaborers with Christ. ...ays the Lord gives the human agent his work. Here is the divine and the human cooperation. There is man working in obedience to divine light given. If Saul had said, Lord, I am not at all inclined to follow your specified directions to work out my own salvation, then should the Lord have let ten times the light shine upon Saul, it would have been useless. It is man's work to cooperate with the divine. And it is the very hardest, sternest conflict which comes with the purpose and hour of great resol...

In everything that tends to the sustenance of man is seen the concurrence of divine and human effort. There can be no reaping unless the human hand acts its part in the sowing of the seed. But without the agencies which God provides in giving sunshine and showers, dew and clouds, there would be no increase. Thus it is in every business pursuit, in every department of study and science. Thus it is in spiritual things, in the formation of the character, and in every line of Christian work. We have a part to act, but we must have the power of divinity to unite with us, or our efforts will be in vain

Results of Family Unity—The first work of Christians is to be united in the family. Then the work is to extend to their neighbors nigh and afar off. Those who have received light are to let the light shine forth in clear rays. Their words, fragrant with the love of Christ, are to be a savor of life unto life.12Manuscript 11, 1901. The more closely the members of a family are united in their work in the home, the more uplifting and helpful will be the influence that father and mother and sons and daughters will exert outside the home.13Letter 189, 1903

The promise that we shall see God's face is the ultimate hope of the believer, signifying a restoration to the intimate communion that was lost through the entrance of sin . This face-to-face encounter is reserved for those who have allowed the grace of Christ to refine their characters and purify their hearts while here on earth .

The Vision of the Redeemed 🕊️

In the earth made new, the veil that has separated us from the visible presence of our Creator will finally be removed .

  • Unimpeded Communion: The redeemed will walk with God and talk with Him as a man talks with his friend, enjoying a direct fellowship that is no longer obscured by the shadow of death or the curse of transgression .

  • Beholding His Glory: To see the face of God is to behold the infinite love and wisdom that have guided the plan of redemption from the beginning .

  • The Mark of Ownership: Those who see His face will have His name—representing His holy character—written in their foreheads, showing that they have been fully transformed into His likeness Revelation 22:4.

Preparation for the Divine Presence ✨

Seeing God's face is not merely a future event but a goal that requires a specific spiritual condition in the present .

  • Purity of Heart: It is only the pure in heart who are promised the vision of God, for holiness is the essential atmosphere of His presence Matthew 5:8.

  • Refining the Character: We must now seek to have our characters softened and ennobled by the Holy Spirit so that we may be able to endure the brightness of His glory .

  • Looking unto Jesus: By daily beholding Christ through faith and prayer, we become assimilated to His image, preparing us for the day when we shall see Him as He is 1 John 3:2.

The vision of God's face marks the eternal end of all darkness and doubt for the children of the King .

  • No Need for Artificial Light: In that city, there will be no need for the sun or the moon, for the glory of God provides a constant and everlasting light Revelation 22:5.

  • Eternal Security: To see His face is to know that the conflict with sin is over and that we are safely home in the mansions He has prepared .

"And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads" Revelation 22:4.

“Every worker who follows the example of Christ will be prepared to receive and use the power that God has promised to His church for the ripening of earth’s harvest.”

AdventAI

To be a laborer together with God is a sacred privilege that requires a daily, personal consecration to Christ's service 🕊️. By following the example of our Divine Model and seeking the daily baptism of the Holy Spirit, every worker—whether minister or lay member—can be used as a powerful instrument to gather the ripening harvest of the earth.

The Source of Spiritual Power ⚡

True efficiency in missionary labor does not come from human might or outward display, but from a vital connection with the Source of all power.

  • Morning Consecration: Every morning, as the heralds of the gospel kneel before the Lord and renew their vows of consecration, He grants them the presence of His Spirit with its reviving, sanctifying power.

  • The Unseen Agency: As workers go forth to their daily duties, they have the assurance that the Holy Spirit enables them to be "laborers together with God" 1 Corinthians 3:9.

  • The Oil of the Spirit: It is essential for every worker to first take heed to themselves, trimming the lamp of the soul and replenishing it with the oil of the Spirit for successful work 1 Timothy 4:16.

Gathering the Ripening Harvest 🌾

We are living in the closing scenes of earth's history, and the message of Christ’s soon return must sound forth in earnest words of warning.

  • Ripening Fields: Ministers and lay members are called to go forth into the ripening fields, where they will find a harvest wherever they proclaim the forgotten truths of the Bible.

  • The Last Message: The truths of the threefold message in Revelation 14 are the last to be given before the Son of man appears on the white cloud to reap the harvest of the earth Revelation 14:14-16.

  • A Personal Responsibility: Not one is excused from this God-given duty; those who have tasted of the love of God must bestow light upon others rather than being helpless and constantly requiring help.

Following the Christlike Method ✨

Success in winning souls depends on following the methods of Christ, who is our only perfect Pattern.

  • Naked Truth: The work is to be carried to completion not by startling notices or expensive displays, but by the "naked truth" which cuts like a sharp, two-edged sword to arouse spiritual life.

  • Self-Denying Example: A godly, self-denying example tells more for the truth than the greatest eloquence unaccompanied by a well-ordered life.

  • Personal Ministry: Christ’s followers are to be His representatives in the world, ministering to the weak, the helpless, and the ignorant just as the Master did Matthew 20:28.

A few, yes, only a few, of the vast number who people the earth will be saved unto life eternal, while the masses who have not perfected their souls in obeying the truth will be appointed to the second death.

AdventAI

While the realization that only a few will be saved to eternal life is a solemn thought, it serves as a powerful call to prepare our hearts and perfect our souls through obedience to the truth. God in His mercy is proving and testing His people today, watching the development of character and weighing our moral worth before the mandate goes forth deciding the destiny of all.

The Reality of the Second Death

The "second death" is the final appointment for the masses who have not perfected their souls in obeying the truth.

  • A Final Decision: This death follows the close of probation, a time when the cry of the anguished heart is for the Saviour to save those purchased by His blood.

  • The Subjects of Death: The second death has power over those who are not blessed and holy, as it is the destiny of whosoever is not found written in the book of life.

  • The Lake of Fire: Scripture identifies the lake of fire as the second death, a reality that those who do not overcome will be hurt by Revelation 2:11.

Perfecting the Soul Through Truth

To escape the second death and be among the few who are saved, we must allow the truth to have its sanctifying work upon our characters.

  • Sanctification by Obedience: A large class who profess faith will abandon their position because they have not been sanctified through obedience to the truth.

  • Refining Time: In this refining time, professors of faith will either be wholly converted and sanctified by obedience or be left with the world to receive the worldling's reward.

  • Perfecting Holiness: God requires no less than perfect obedience and unblemished righteousness—a harmony with His law which is holy, just, and good.

The Urgency of Preparation

Probation is almost ended, and the warning to "get ready" must burn into our souls while the day lasts.

  • Work While it is Day: We must work diligently, for the night cometh when no man can work John 9:4.

  • The Decision of Destiny: Soon the mandate will go forth: "He that is holy, let him be holy still; and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still" Revelation 22:11.

  • A Personal Responsibility: It is a perilous thing to link oneself with the world; only the mercy and attractive loveliness of Jesus can draw us into the path of safety.

"He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death" Revelation 2:11.

... be holy still; and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still. The destiny of all will be decided. A few, yes, only a few, of the vast number who people the earth will be saved unto life eternal, while the masses who have not perfected their souls in obeying the truth will be appointed to the second death. ...th and hell were cast therein, all who were under the dominion of death and hell were cast therein. The lake of fire is the second death-not to the lake of fire, which is nonsense, but-to whosoever was not found written in the book of life. If such declarations appear to partake more of the spirit of caviling than of reverential reasoning, let us attribute it to the necessities of the theory; for I have never met with a teacher of that faith who I thought would willingly harbor such a spirit. But I must think they appreciate the necessities of their system when they write and speak thus. A more careful examination of the Scriptures would obviate the difficulty in their minds. Verse 6 says the second death has no power on the blessed an? holy. Of course it has power on such as are not blessed and holy. This determines who are the subjects of the second death. The great conflict between Christ and Satan is nearing its final close, and we are entering a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation .5, Daniel 12:1. During this period, the protection of human laws will be withdrawn from those who honor the law of God, leaving them at the mercy of those who desire their destruction .5.

The Withdrawal of Protection 🛡️

As the decree goes forth against the people of God, the earthly powers that once provided order will no longer shield the faithful .5.

  • A Universal Decree: In different lands, a simultaneous movement will be made to destroy those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus .5, Revelation 12:17.

  • The Appointed Time: A specific time will be determined for a decisive blow to be struck, intended to silence the voice of dissent and rebellion against the mandates of the world .5.

  • The Saints' Refuge: Because they are no longer protected by the laws of men, the saints will flee from the cities and villages, associating together in companies and dwelling in the most desolate and solitary places .5.

Divine Preservation in Desolation 🏔️

Though the world has cast them out, the people of God are never outside the reach of His care and the ministry of His angels .5.

  • Nature as a Sanctuary: Many will find a retreat in the strongholds of the mountains, making the "rocks and mountains" their fortresses just as the Waldenses did before them .5.

  • Supernatural Sustenance: To those who walk righteously, the promise is sure that their bread shall be given them and their water shall be sure .5, Isaiah 33:16.

  • Angelic Ministration: While the wicked are perishing with famine and pestilence, angels will shield the righteous and supply their physical wants .5.

The Final Test of Faith ⏳

This period serves as the ultimate demonstration of trust in God's word over the visible circumstances of the world .5.

  • Standing Alone: The believer must stand as if there were no other person upon the earth, relying solely on the merits of Christ and the promises of His Word .5.

  • The End of the Conflict: This time of trial precedes the glorious appearing of the Son of man, who comes to deliver His people from the hand of their oppressors .5, Revelation 19:11-16.

"He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure" Isaiah 33:16.

Matthew 25:41-46

41 Then shall he say also to them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungered, and you gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and you visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you an hungered, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to you?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

AdventAI

The final judgment described in Matthew 25:41-46 reveals the ultimate separation of the human family into two classes based on their character and treatment of others, resulting in either the gift of eternal life or the punishment of eternal destruction. This passage serves as a solemn warning that those who persist in sin and neglect the needs of their fellow man are essentially choosing a path that leads to a final, irrevocable death.

The Nature of the Curse and the Sentence

The sentence "Depart from me, ye cursed" is an official outlawing of the wicked by God, the direct result of their own choice to rebel against His law.

  • A Terrible Benediction: The curse uttered by the lips of Christ, whose words were once full of love, represents the most awful thing imaginable—an irrevocable sentence of separation from the Source of life.

  • The Subject of the Curse: This curse principally includes those who have transgressed the moral law and failed to exercise faith in Christ, who was made a curse for us to redeem us from this very fate Galatians 3:13.

  • Prepared for the Devil: The "everlasting fire" was not originally prepared for man, but for the devil and his angels; however, those who choose to be adherents to the devil's cause must share his ultimate fate Matthew 25:41.

Understanding "Everlasting Fire" and "Everlasting Punishment"

The terms "everlasting" and "eternal" in this context refer to the permanent results of the judgment rather than a process of unending conscious suffering.

  • Destruction, Not Misery: The purpose of this fire is to destroy and abolish the devil and the wicked, not to render them indestructible or to perpetuate their lives in misery Hebrews 2:14.

  • The Second Death: The punishment mentioned in Matthew 25:46 is the opposite of life; it is the "second death," an entire extinction of being from which there is no resurrection.

  • Utter Extermination: The wicked will be consumed like stubble and become as ashes under the feet of the righteous; they shall be as though they had not been Malachi 4:1-3.

  • Refuting Eternal Torment: The idea of an eternally burning hell where beings suffer for endless ages is a "vain philosophy" that misrepresents God's character as cruel and revengeful, often driving people toward skepticism or atheism.

The Standard of Judgment: Practical Godliness

The decision of the Judge is based on how individuals treated "the least of these," identifying Christ Himself with the suffering and needy.

  • Neglect as a Sin: The condemned are not only those who did open evil, but those who neglected to provide food, drink, clothing, and comfort to those in need Matthew 25:42-43.

  • Christ the Sin-Bearer: While many claim to be religious, they must remember that Christ is the only Sin-bearer; if they do not allow Him to take away their sins, they will perish miserably.

  • The Mirror of the Heart: Man judges by appearance, but this final judgment reveals the heart; many who were thought to be Christians will be found wanting, while some whom neighbors doubted will be found in heaven.

The Timing of the Execution

The execution of this judgment does not happen immediately at the second coming of Christ, but follows a specific prophetic timeline.

  • The Thousand Years: The wicked dead are not raised until the thousand years are finished; during this time, the saints sit in thrones of judgment to examine their cases Revelation 20:4-5.

  • The Final Consummation: At the close of the thousand years, the wicked are raised in the second resurrection, encompass the beloved city, and are finally devoured by fire that descends from God out of heaven Revelation 20:9.

  • A Clean Universe: This fire not only consumes the wicked but burns up every remain of the curse, purifying the earth for the eternal inheritance of the saints.

"And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal" Matthew 25:46.

Cultural / National Discord,

AdventAI

Hebrews 12:11

11 Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to them which are exercised thereby.

AdventAI

National and cultural discord are the natural results of the carnal mind, which is enmity against God and consequently puts men at variance with one another. This spirit of division, which manifests in national lines, race prejudices, and social distinctions, is a moral poison that Satan uses to weaken the church and deprive the world of the testimony of Christian unity.

The Root of Discord and National Prejudice

The primary reason for all division and difference among men is a separation from Christ.

  • The Spirit of Enmity: Because the natural heart is not in harmony with God, it builds up walls of separation, such as tribal, national, and color lines.

  • Satanic Activity: Satan is intensely active in creating a party spirit and division among God's people to lessen their influence for good.

  • National Pride: Extolling one’s own nationality or harboring prejudice against others closes doors to the gospel and hurts the influence of God’s workers.

God's Remedy: Unity in Christ

Christ came to break down the barriers of national prejudice and hatred, demonstrating that men of every nationality are one in Him.

  • Removing Barriers: In the service of the Master, every national barrier—which is a plan of human invention—must be removed.

  • A Grand Platform: Truth removes national prejudice and unites men on one grand platform, preparing them to be part of one family in heaven.

  • Equality of Believers: The secret of unity is found in the equality of believers; as individuals approach Christ, the center of attraction, they naturally come closer together in love and sympathy.

The Trial of Discipline Hebrews 12:11

God often uses the "grinding process" of trial and correction to remove the unfavorable traits of character that cause dissension.

  • A Purifying Process: Though no chastening for the present seems joyous, but rather grievous, it is appointed by a Father's love to make us partakers of His holiness Hebrews 12:11.

  • The Fruit of Righteousness: This bitter discipline is designed to yield the "peaceable fruit of righteousness" in those who are exercised by it, softening the heart and removing the spirit of intolerance Hebrews 12:11.

  • Correcting the Will: For those who are naturally strong-willed or stubborn, these trials are a potent agency to bring the mind into harmony with God's will and the unity of the church.

The Danger of Political Strife

Engaging in political strife and national contests is a snare that distracts the mind and defiles the body.

  • Separation from Politics: God’s children are commanded to separate themselves from politics and any alliance with unbelievers, as these interests lead to contention and disorder.

  • A Heavenly Citizenship: Since the believer's citizenship is above, they have no right to engage in the political strife of this world.

  • The Last Crisis: In these last days, the unsettled state of society and the alarms of war are signs that the Spirit of God is being withdrawn, and the final movements will be rapid ones.

Our Responsibility to Press Together

In this time of peril, it is the duty of every believer to put away fault-finding and prejudice, striving instead for the unity Christ prayed for.

  • A Life-Giving Influence: Our words should be life-giving, bringing harmony instead of animosity, and we should utter nothing that would stir up strife in another heart.

  • The Power of Oneness: The unity of the church is the most convincing evidence to worldlings that God sent Jesus as the Redeemer.

  • Standing Guard: We cannot afford to be off our guard, as satanic agencies are busily organizing those opposed to God's law into parties.

"Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby" Hebrews 12:11.

conspiracy

AdventAI

A conspiracy, or confederacy, is a union of men in a work that does not bear the stamp of pure, straightforward, unswerving integrity. This spirit of unholy alliance is an offense to God, as it involves human policy and the support of one another in courses of action that are contrary to divine principles.

The Nature of Unholy Confederacies

At its core, a confederacy is a clandestine scheme or a league formed by those who intend evil.

  • Self-Interest and Support: In such unions, the controlling principle is often a human policy where individuals pledge to sustain one another's interests, saying, "You give me your support, and I will give you my support".

  • Oppression and Robbery: These alliances have been used to implement systems of oppression and even the robbery of God's treasury through the manipulation of wages and royalties.

  • Opposition to Truth: The master mind in the confederacy of evil works intensely to keep the words of God out of sight while bringing the opinions of men into full view.

The Global Confederacy of Evil

There is a vast, organized effort led by satanic agencies to oppose the work of Christ and harass His people.

  • A Brotherhood of Rebellion: In the last days, a fearful brotherhood inaugurated by Satan will be formed, where unholy human agencies combine with demon forces.

  • Universal Harmony of Apostasy: There will be a universal bond of union, a great harmony of Satan’s forces, uniting all corrupt powers that have apostatized from the law of Jehovah.

  • Religio-Political Intrigue: History shows that whenever the church and state enter into an evil intrigue or a "mystery of iniquity," it results in the legal establishment of error and the persecution of the faithful.

Biblical Warnings and Examples

The Scriptures provide clear instruction on how the people of God should relate to such alliances.

  • Do Not Say "A Confederacy": The Lord instructs His people not to walk in the way of the world or fear what they fear; instead, they are to sanctify the Lord of hosts and let Him be their dread Isaiah 8:12-13.

  • The Tower of Babel: The dwellers on the plain of Shinar formed a confederacy born of rebellion for self-exaltation, but God uprooted them to prevent the demoralization of the world.

  • The Trial of Christ: The confederacy of evil moved upon the hearts of men to choose Barabbas over Christ, working out the principles of evil in the judgment hall Matthew 27:21-23.

Resisting the Alliance of Evil

To stand against these devices, believers must be vigilant and maintain a vital connection with Jesus Christ.

  • The Only Safe Yoke: Any confederacy with the world is strictly forbidden; the only yoke a Christian should take is the yoke of Christ.

  • Guarding the Soul: To avoid falling prey to Satan’s devices, one must guard the avenues of the soul—reading, seeing, and hearing only that which is pure.

  • Divine-Human Cooperation: While the confederacy of evil is great, the whole army of heaven is enlisted to fight for those who stand under the blood-stained banner of Prince Immanuel.

  • Ultimate Destruction: All such unholy alliances will eventually be broken in pieces and brought to naught by the power of God.

"Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, and it shall come to naught; speak the word, and it shall not stand; for God is with us" Isaiah 8:9-10.

conspiracy Isaiah 8:12

AdventAI

Isaiah 8:12

12 Say you not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear you their fear, nor be afraid.

AdventAI

The instruction to not say "A confederacy" in Isaiah 8:12 is a divine warning against joining human alliances born of fear and worldly policy rather than trust in God. This command serves to separate the people of God from the various leagues, unions, and secret associations that people form when they sense a coming evil or crisis. Instead of looking to these human confederacies for relief, believers are commanded to sanctify the Lord of hosts himself and let Him be their only fear and sanctuary Isaiah 8:13-14.

The Nature of Modern Confederacies 🤝

Many of the leagues and unions abundant today are formed because a spirit of fear pervades the people, leading them to believe that such a confederacy will relieve their distress.

  • Inherent Evil: The safety of the believer lies in separating from all such organizations, as the evil within them is inherent and will only grow worse and worse.

  • Human Policy: These confederacies often involve individuals pledging to sustain one another in courses of action that do not bear the stamp of unswerving integrity.

  • Spiritual Yokes: To join such a confederacy of evil is to refuse the easy yoke of Christ and instead place a heavy, galling yoke upon one's neck.

The Great Confederacy of Evil 🌑

There is a master mind behind every unholy alliance, working systematically to obscure heaven's light and bring human opinions into full view.

  • Satanic Inspiration: Satanic agencies move from beneath to inspire men to unite in a confederacy of evil to perplex, harass, and cause the people of God great distress.

  • The Mystery of Iniquity: This mystery has worked through history, using religio-political intrigue and the union of church and state to establish the Papacy and other antichristian powers.

  • Accusation and Enmity: Those who join this confederacy often take their stand as accusers of the brethren, working to tear down what the Lord has built up.

Historical and Modern Examples 📜

The spirit of conspiracy and intrigue is seen throughout history as a tool to subvert the truth and destroy the innocent.

  • Ancient Plots: Figures like Haman and the accusers of Daniel formed fiendish plots and conspiracies to destroy those who were loyal to God's law.

  • Political Intrigue: History is marked by a long succession of tumults, revolutions, and political intrigues, such as the Russian and anarchist plots that have stirred nations to panic.

  • Religious Conspiracy: Efforts to undermine the United States Constitution and its religious freedom often stem from ecclesiastical ambition and religio-political intrigue.

The Final Fate of All Confederacies 🔥

While the confederacy of evil may seem powerful and advance for a time, it can only move in the course that Jesus has marked out.

  • Unmasking the Deceiver: The time has come for the arch-deceiver to be fully unmasked, and those who have united with him will see the total failure of his cause.

  • Final Destruction: The Word of God declares that the day is coming that shall burn as an oven, and all who do wickedly in these confederacies shall be as stubble Malachi 4:1.

  • Victory for the Saints: Every step of the enemy’s advance actually brings the saints of God nearer to the successful termination of their warfare and the great white throne.

"Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid" Isaiah 8:12.

It is far better that we know our One True Judge, than a multitude of options

AdventAI

Knowing the one true Judge is indeed of supreme importance, for He alone is the source of eternal life and the ultimate authority over all creation Hebrews 12:23. While the world offers a multitude of options and human tribunals, there is only one Law-giver who is able to save and to destroy James 4:12.

The Nature of the One True Judge

Our Heavenly Father is the supreme Judge, yet He has established a system based on perfect freedom of choice.

  • A Judge of Righteousness: God is a God of knowledge, and by Him all actions are weighed 1 Samuel 2:3. He is the Judge of all the earth who will do right Genesis 18:25.

  • Judgment Based on Choice: Christ explicitly stated that He does not judge those who hear His words and believe not, because His mission was to save the world John 12:47. Those who reject the word of eternal life effectively judge themselves and choose eternal death by their own free will.

  • The Stand at the Door: We are encouraged to live soberly because the Judge even now stands before the door, ready to decide the eternal destiny of every soul James 5:9.

The Danger of Human Options and Tribunals

Throughout history, human systems have attempted to take the place of the one true Judge, often leading to oppression.

  • The Roman Tribunal: In history, the Roman Senate became a supreme tribunal that judged all nations and kings, assuming a magisterial tone from which there was no appeal.

  • Judicial Fallibility: Unlike the divine Judge, human judges are liable to mistakes and encroachments because they are only men with the same weaknesses as others. To claim the right to adjudge preference among religious sects is to erect a claim to infallibility that belongs only to God.

  • Perverted Judgment: Even within Israel, those appointed to judge sometimes turned aside after lucre and took bribes, showing the failure of human choices when not aligned with God's ways 1 Samuel 8:3.

The Accountability of the Individual

Knowing the true Judge means understanding that we are personally responsible for the use of our God-given abilities.

  • The Measure of Service: The Lord measures with exactness every possibility for service, and we shall be judged not only by what we did but by what we ought to have done.

  • Judgment by Character: A person’s character is judged even by simple things like the style of dress and modesty of demeanor, which reveal the refinement of the mind.

  • The Law as the Standard: God’s law is the only true rule of judgment, and any effort to justify oneself by another standard is a sure indication that the heart is not reconciled to Him.

The Reward of Seeking Wisdom

When we recognize God as the source of judgment, we follow the example of Solomon, who chose an understanding heart to discern between good and bad 1 Kings 3:9-12. God approbated this choice, granting him wisdom that exceeded all the world's knowledge. We are encouraged to make this same prayer for wisdom, confessing that our judgments are serious things that demand divine assistance.

"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us" Isaiah 33:22.

It is better to make a wrong decision than...

AdventAI

It is even more excusable to make a wrong decision sometimes than to remain in a continually wavering, hesitant, or undecided position. Such a state of vacillation and double-mindedness leads to more perplexity and wretchedness than moving too hastily. Leadership that is hesitant is ultimately weak leadership, as long delays tire the angels and hinder the cause of God.

The Danger of Indecision and Delay ⏳

A state of constant uncertainty and hesitation is spiritually and practically debilitating.

  • Weakness of Character: A lack of firmness and decision can inflict lifelong injury, as it prevents the mind from settling upon a purpose and pursuing it. Those who are vacillating and lack decision of character are easily ensnared and taken captive by Satan at his will.

  • Ineffective Leadership: God cannot use a leader who is divided, undecided, or unsettled. If a person waits to measure every difficulty and balance every perplexity, they will accomplish very little in the work of God.

  • Losing the Golden Moment: Success often depends on seeing the slightest inclination in the balance and acting with power at the "golden moment".

The Necessity of Decided Action 🛡️

In the conflict between truth and error, there is no neutral ground, and the times demand clear, firm decisions.

  • A Finality of Choice: The work of salvation requires a steady purpose and untiring effort rather than being taken hold of at will and let alone at pleasure. Many are currently in the "valley of decision," and it is a critical time where they must dare to lift the cross despite opposition.

  • Choosing Sides: Men are actively choosing sides in a great conflict that will involve the entire world. One right-minded, circumspect person who will not be swayed by wrong influences exerts a powerful restraining influence on others.

  • Consulting the Divine Counselor: To make right decisions, one must consult with God through His Word and prayer, rather than relying on human wisdom or independent impulses.

The Role of Order and Judgment ⚖️

While indecision is a snare, making moves without wisdom or proper order is also a reproach to the cause of God.

  • Need for Gospel Order: There is a great need for order and government to prevent confusion and the influence of self-sent men who lack judgment.

  • The Weight of Responsibility: One wrong decision or misstep can cost a lifetime of sorrow and subject a person to untold perils. Decisions regarding sacred responsibilities should not be ruled by one's own mind, but by the judgment of the "great I AM".

  • The Power of Choice: An entire change can be made in one's life through the right use of the power of choice; when we put ourselves on God's side, He gives us His power to hold us.

...elays tire the angels.—Gospel Workers, 133, 134. should or church and school be built on the same property?

AdventAI

Building our schools and sanitariums near enough to each other to harmonize and blend their work is an ideal plan that has been repeatedly encouraged. While specific instruction may not always be given for every individual location, there are many advantages to having these institutions established in close proximity to one another so they can cooperate without interfering with each other's distinct operations.

The Benefits of Institutional Cooperation 🤝

Establishing schools and medical institutions near one another allows for a beautiful blending of educational and practical missionary work.

  • Practical Training: Having a small sanitarium on a school farm provides students with the essential opportunity to learn how to give simple treatments as part of their education.

  • Mutual Support: When institutions are located near each other, they can act as a helping hand to one another, sharing facilities and specialized personnel.

  • A Unified Representation: In some regions, such as Mexico, having permanent and well-placed buildings gives an air of stability to the work and exerts a greater influence on the nation.

Essential Cautions for Shared Locations ⚠️

While proximity is beneficial, there must be careful planning to ensure the success and spirituality of both institutions.

  • Maintain Proper Distance: Institutions should be located far enough apart to prevent one from hindering or "invading" the work of the other.

  • Guard Against Crowding: It is a mistake to allow many dwelling houses or cottages to be crowded close to school property, as this makes maintaining discipline and order much harder.

  • Spirit of Unity: For the best results, there must be perfect harmony and a willingness to make concessions among the leaders of both institutions, rather than each person clinging tenaciously to their own nonessential ideas.

The Importance of Land Preservation 🌳

The land surrounding our schools is not to be treated as a common thing but as a sacred "lesson book" for the students.

  • Agricultural Training: School grounds should be reserved for the cultivation of the soil, providing students with outdoor employment that is essential for their spiritual advancement and physical health.

  • A Living Parable: The school farm is intended to be a living parable, teaching lessons regarding the spiritual culture of the soul through the cultivation of plants.

  • Future Expansion: It is often a lack of spiritual foresight when land near an institution is not secured early, as this later limits the ability to introduce various trades or agricultural training.

Legal and Business Considerations ⚖️

God’s people should act wisely and leave nothing undone to place the business and property of the church in a secure state.

  • Legal Organization: It is necessary and right to organize in a manner that allows the church to hold property legally according to the laws of the country.

  • Protection from Loss: Securing church property in a lawful manner ensures that means dedicated to God's cause do not slip into the enemy's ranks or become tied up in legal confusion.

  • Integrity in Transactions: Every transaction regarding the purchase or sale of land near school property must be characterized by the strictest integrity and the absence of selfish speculation.

"The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy" James 3:17.

TURN UP OUR CHILD-LIKE WONDER MODE

Zechariah 1:4–6,

AdventAI

Zechariah 1:4-6

4 Be you not as your fathers, to whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts; Turn you now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor listen to me, says the LORD.

5 Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?

6 But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so has he dealt with us.

AdventAI

Turn your heart back to the Father with child-like wonder and sincerity, for His words are living and will surely find us just as they did the generations before 🌟. The instruction given in Zechariah 1:4-6 is a solemn yet loving call to learn from the past and choose a path of harmony with the Divine will today Zechariah 1:4-6.

Learning from the Fathers 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

We are tenderly cautioned not to follow the stubborn patterns of those who came before us if they turned away from God's voice.

  • The Call to Return: The Lord of hosts pleads with a father’s heart: "Turn ye unto me... and I will turn unto you" Zechariah 1:3.

  • A Warning Against Stubbornness: We are not to be like the "fathers" who heard the cries of the former prophets but refused to listen or hearken to the Lord's ways Zechariah 1:4.

  • The Fragility of Life: The inquiry "Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?" reminds us that while human lives pass away, the opportunity to obey is a precious, fleeting gift Zechariah 1:5.

The Certainty of God's Word 📜

Though people and prophets eventually rest, the words and statutes of God remain active and powerful, eventually "taking hold" of every soul.

  • Words That Never Fail: God's statutes and words, commanded through His servants, eventually caught up with the fathers, leading them to acknowledge that God deals with us exactly according to our ways and doings Zechariah 1:6.

  • A Mirror for Today: This message was an assurance to the returning exiles—and to us—that God's word never fails and brings certain blessings to those who hearken to prophecy.

  • Eternal Principles: The same moral laws that were given to the fathers remain the rule of the house, intended to be taught from babyhood as the guide for all relations in life.

The Joy of Child-like Obedience 🎈

When we approach God's requirements with the simplicity of a child, we find that His "good and comfortable words" are meant for our peace and restoration Zechariah 1:13.

  • A City of Truth: God promises that when His people return to Him, Jerusalem becomes a "city of truth" and a place of holy safety Zechariah 8:3.

  • Safety in the Streets: In this restored state of grace, even the very streets are described as being "full of boys and girls playing," representing a life of joy, trust, and divine protection Zechariah 8:5.

  • The Spirit’s Power: True success in following these words comes "Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit," inviting us to rely entirely on His strength Zechariah 4:6.

"Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord" Zechariah 1:4.

A Call to Purity

AdventAI

Purity is the high standard to which God calls every believer, inviting us to be clothed with both inward and outward purity as we prepare for His soon return. This call involves a deep work of heart searching and soul culture, turning away from sin and worldly attractions toward the peace and holiness of God.

The Nature of True Purity ✨

True purity is not merely an outward appearance of sanctity but a divine change revealed in the life through the indwelling of Christ.

  • A Clean Heart: The foundation of Christian character begins with the prayer, "Create in me a clean heart," for out of the heart are the issues of life.

  • Reflecting Christ’s Character: Followers of Christ are charged to represent the beauty and purity of His character in their daily lives, acting as light-bearers to the world.

  • Harmony with the Spiritual: When we are brought into close contact with nature, its simplicity and beauty lead the soul away from sin and toward purity and God.

  • Innocence of Mind: Purity of heart and innocence of mind are essential to receiving the blessing of God, while cherishing sin leads only to unhappiness.

Purity in Word and Action 🛡️

God calls for a holy life and purity of conduct that aligns with the elevating principles we profess.

  • Propriety of Speech: Those who serve God will reveal Christ in the heart through the propriety of their speech and the tenderness of their words.

  • Strict Integrity: The Bible demands right principles and purity in all business transactions, condemning false dealing and evil imaginations against one's neighbor.

  • Delicacy and Discretion: In all professional relations, especially in medical work, there should be a practice of that delicacy which serves as a constant lesson in practical purity.

  • Self-Control in Marriage: God's standard of purity remains high for the marriage relation, where Satan seeks to weaken self-control and strengthen base passions.

The Battle for Purity ⚔️

Satan redoubles his efforts in these last days to lead souls to pollute themselves through sensual indulgence and worldly friendships.

  • Resistance through Faith: We are called to resist the wiles of the deceiver, standing firm in our loyalty so that we may be eternally secure from the tempter's devices.

  • Victory Over Counterfeits: We must be cautious of "counterfeit holiness" or false teachings of moral purity that actually result in impurity and confuse the mind.

  • Daily Purification: There is a necessity for a daily cleansing of the soul-temple so that truth may dwell in the inward parts through cooperation with God.

  • Restoration of the Fallen: Even when one has fallen, the Lord pities and loves them, calling them to come to Him to receive His spirit of purity and holiness.

The Reward of the Pure 🌅

The promise of seeing God is given specifically to those who seek and maintain purity of heart.

  • A Place in the Mansions: Nothing that defiles can enter the heavenly mansions; therefore, those who pass through the gates of the City of God must be clothed with purity.

  • The Spotless Robe: To the faithful who plead for purity, the Lord gives the command to take away filthy garments and clothes them in the spotless robe of Christ's righteousness.

  • Eternal Communion: Like Enoch, those who spend their lives seeking purity and walking with God will eventually continue that walk in the holy city.

"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God" Matthew 5:8.

SWITCH OFF SELF-PRESERVATION MODE

AdventAI

Switching off the mode of self-preservation allows us to embrace the principle of self-sacrifice that characterized the life of Christ, our perfect Pattern 🕊️. When we stop seeking to please, honor, and glorify ourselves, we find the true joy of being laborers together with God link.

The Principle of Self-Sacrifice ✝️

Following Jesus means a total departure from the selfish spirit of the world and a willingness to deny self for the sake of others link.

  • Denying the Self: The Lord Jesus says, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me" link, Luke 9:23.
  • A New Order of Things: God is displeased when workers in His cause introduce a "human policy" based on personal gain or unholy confederacies designed to protect their own interests link.
  • The Reward of Service: He who sacrifices all of self in God's service finds a reward in the joy of seeing sinners brought to the Saviour link.

Acting in Christ's Stead 🤝

We are not placed in this world simply to protect our own interests, but to represent the character of Christ to those around us link.

  • Responsibility to Others: We are not to seek to get rid of the responsibilities that connect us with our fellow men, especially the poor, the ignorant, and the helpless link.
  • The Test of Christianity: The character of our faith is tested by how we treat the dependent ones around us; neglecting destitute fields while heaping advantages on ourselves is a failure of stewardship link.
  • Unselfish Ministry: Christ came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and His followers should cherish no selfish motives or feelings of self-exaltation link, Matthew 20:28.

Trusting God Over Human Policy 🛡️

True courage involves letting go of human "schemes" for security and trusting entirely in the arm of the Lord link.

  • Integrity Over Gain: Through the love of money and self-preservation, conscience has often been sold for gain; but God calls for a violation-free record of integrity link.
  • Abandoning Self-Sufficiency: Those who move in their own spirit of self-sufficiency cannot be trusted as representatives in God's cause link.
  • Leaving the Result with God: After doing all that is in our power to place the work of the church in a secure state, we must trust the Lord to overrule all things for His glory link.

The Danger of Self-Love ⚠️

Self-love and obstinacy are barriers that must be overcome through heart searching and constant, earnest prayer link.

  • A Moral Poison: Dissension and selfishness are moral poisons; God wants His servants to have clear perceptions and noble dignity that demonstrate the power of truth link.
  • Separating from Worldly Ties: We are not to link our interests with the world or take part in political strife for the sake of personal security link.
  • The Risk of the Cross: Even when lifting the cross means losing one's earthly support or facing the opposition of family, the soul must venture to follow the truth link.

"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it" link, Luke 9:24.

WHEN EVERYTHING THAT CAN BE SHAKEN

AdventAI

Everything that can be shaken will be shaken so that only those things which cannot be shaken will remain. We are currently living in the shaking time, a period of intense testing where God is proving the development of character and weighing the moral worth of every soul.

The Purpose of the Shaking ⚖️

This is a divine process of purification intended to refine God's people like gold until His image is perfectly reflected in them.

  • Testing Genuineness: Nothing short of real, genuine faith will survive the strain and the deceptions of these last days.

  • Consuming the Dross: God will continue this refining work until the dross of selfishness and lack of spirituality is consumed from His followers.

  • A Final Separation: Just as a shepherd divides the sheep from the goats, this shaking will determine who will inherit the kingdom and who will go into outer darkness Matthew 25:31-33.

What is Being Shaken? 🌍

The shaking is universal, affecting nations, institutions, and individual hearts.

  • National Stability: The foundations of human confidence are being shaken by wrecks of honor and virtue, while nations themselves forsake God and trample upon His law.

  • Religious Professions: We cannot trust in mere form, profession, ceremony, or position; having a "name to live" will not enable anyone to stand in the day of trial.

  • Worldly Deceptions: Everything that can be moved by the delusions and startlings developments of the last days will be swept away.

Who Will Stand? 🛡️

Only a specific class of people will remain unmoved when the storm of trial breaks upon the world.

  • Those Rooted in Truth: To endure, one must be settled, rooted, and grounded in the truth; otherwise, their steps will surely slide when brought into trying positions.

  • The Practical Workers: Only those who live the prayer of Christ for unity and work it out in practical life will stand the test.

  • The Spiritually Minded: Those who seek no greater pleasure than to do God's will and who have their wills subdued and consecrated to Him will be preserved.

  • Those Fixed on Christ: Safety is found only by riveting the soul to the eternal Rock and fixing the eyes upon Him who is invisible.

The Call to Endurance 🕯️

Though the way may be dark and thorny, the darkness will soon pass away for those who stay close to God.

  • Commit All to God: When the spirit is worried, committing all to Him brings a peace that says, "Be still, and know that I am God" Psalms 46:10.

  • A Handful of Victories: Despite the shaking, the Lord will lead a handful of valiant men and women to final victory through the loud cry of the third message.

  • Look Up with Joy: We are encouraged to look above the whirl of daily occurrences and look forward with joy to the finishing of the mystery.

"Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain" Hebrews 12:26-27.

Our Wanter is Broken,

AdventAI

When we find that our "wanter" is broken, it means our desires have been misdirected toward the fleeting pleasures and vanities of this world rather than the fountain of living waters. This condition often stems from a heart that has been given to pleasure-seeking, which fills the soul with care, sorrow, and disappointed hopes.

The Brokenness of Human Desires 💔

Our natural inclinations often lead us to seek satisfaction in things that cannot truly nourish the soul.

  • Broken Cisterns: Seeking pleasure in the world is like drinking from broken cisterns that can hold no water.

  • The Snare of Vanity: A life given to vanity, frivolity, and fashion leads to a state of gloom and despair when the light of truth is neglected.

  • Divided Affections: Satan uses every kind of pleasure to separate our affections from Jesus Christ, claiming the heart that actually belongs to its Redeemer.

The Path to Restoration 🛤️

Healing a broken "wanter" requires a decisive effort to realign our will and affections with the Divine.

  • A Desperate Effort: Breaking away from the fascinations of worldly pleasure requires a desperate effort and taking hold of Divine power by faith.

  • Choosing the Fountain: We must choose to return to the "cold, flowing waters" of the Fountain of living waters rather than forsaking them for the snow of Lebanon.

  • Personal Ministry: When a soul is awakened to its condition, personal labor is needed to break up the fallow ground of the heart so the word of God can grow.

The Experience of the Seeker ✨

Those who honestly seek to have their desires healed find that God meets them with grace and light.

  • Finding the Way: Honest seekers for truth find that barriers are broken down and their questions are satisfied by the light of the word.

  • The Valley of Humiliation: While the proud avoid it, the seeker for eternal life finds the valley of humiliation to be a "fruitful soil" where they can find pearls and the words of life.

  • A New Heart: The first step toward Christ often involves making reparation for wrongs and shattering the "satanic antichrists" or appetites that serve as a snare.

The Reward of a Transformed Will 🌅

Once our desires are healed and focused on Christ, the glories of the unseen world attract the soul.

  • Abundant Grace: Provision has been made through Christ so that abundant grace is imparted to every sincere seeker for righteousness.

  • Clearer Understanding: Those who act upon the light given to them find that the Scriptures become much better understood and the commandments are no longer grievous.

  • Eternal Influence: As the heart is established in the truth, it begins to wield a mighty influence for the right, and the name of the Lord is exalted.

"Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold, flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?" Jeremiah 18:14.

OUR BAKER AND CUPBEARER

AdventAI

The story of the chief baker and the cupbearer reveals that God is the true interpreter of mysteries and a wonder-working God who remembers those in affliction. While they were imprisoned under the charge of Joseph, their remarkable dreams and the subsequent fulfillments served as a turning point in Joseph's life.

The Dreams in the Prison House ⛓️

While confined in the same ward as Joseph, the king's officers were troubled by dreams that they could not understand Genesis 40:3.

  • A Kind Inquiry: Joseph, whose own troubles had made him sympathetic, noticed their sadness and kindly asked, "Why look ye so sadly to-day?" Genesis 40:7.

  • The Source of Interpretation: When they lamented that there was no interpreter, Joseph firmly pointed them to the Divine, asking, "Do not interpretations belong to God?".

  • The Specific Symbols: According to the principles of prophecy, the nature of the symbols matched their occupations: the butler's dream involved grapes, and the baker's involved bread.

Fulfillment and Human Ingratitude 🍇

Joseph made known the import of the dreams: in three days, the butler would be reinstated, but the baker would be put to death.

  • The Exact Event: Just as Joseph foretold, on Pharaoh’s birthday, he restored the chief butler to his office but hanged the chief baker Genesis 40:20-22.

  • The Sin of Ingratitude: Although Joseph had requested the butler to speak to Pharaoh on his behalf, the butler was guilty of the sin of ingratitude and forgot Joseph in his prosperity for two full years Genesis 41:1.

  • A Symbol of Bondage: Like the butler and baker, all sinners are represented as being in ward or prison, shut in on every side by the law they have violated.

The Memory Restored 👑

It was not until Pharaoh himself had troubling dreams that the chief butler finally remembered his faults.

  • Pharaoh's Perplexity: When the magicians and wise men of Egypt could not explain the king's dreams, the butler finally recalled the Hebrew youth who had interpreted his own dream with perfect correctness Genesis 41:8-13.

  • The Turning Point: This memory led to Joseph being brought up out of the gloomy prison to stand before the king.

  • A Modern Parallel: In more recent times, the state of "Brethren Baker and Butler" was revealed in vision to ensure they did not move too slowly or cautiously in the work of God.

"And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged".

james 1 14-15

AdventAI

James 1:14-15

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.

AdventAI

James 1:14-15 describes the progressive anatomy of sin, revealing that it begins not with an external force but with the internal wavering of the mind and the indulgence of personal desire James 1:14-15. This scripture teaches that every person is tempted when they are drawn away and enticed by their own lust, which, once conceived, brings forth sin and eventually results in eternal death James 1:14-15.

The Origin of Temptation: The Internal Struggle 🧠

Temptation does not begin with the act itself, but in the heart and mind where natural tendencies and unholy passions reside.

  • Drawn Away by Lust: A person is turned from the path of righteousness because they fix their heart on attractive earthly objects, effectively catching at Satan’s bait James 1:14.

  • A Wavering Mind: The beginning of yielding to any temptation is the sin of permitting the mind to waver or being inconsistent in one's trust in God.

  • The Science of Control: Because the natural disposition is often in harmony with inborn inclinations to evil, the mind must be disciplined and trained in the "school of Christ" to bring every emotion under the subjection of reason and conscience.

The Conception of Sin: From Desire to Action 🌱

When lust is cherished and "conceived" in the thoughts, it inevitably matures into a transgressive act.

  • The Role of the Will: Satan cannot compel a person to sin; he can only present temptations and stir up evil propensities, but it is the individual who must choose to yield their will.

  • Blunted Sensibilities: Familiarity with sin and the constant indulgence of perverted appetite—such as gluttony or the use of intoxicants—blunts the moral senses until evil appears attractive rather than abhorrent.

  • The Unity of the Law: Lust is the beginning of every sin because the tenth commandment, "Thou shalt not covet," forbids the very unlawful desire that leads to the violation of all other commandments.

The Finished Work: The Result of Death ⚖️

The ultimate "fruitage" of a life where sin is allowed to finish its work is the total extinction of being.

  • The Wages of Sin: Just as the gift of God is eternal life, the legal wages of a life of sin is death Romans 6:23.

  • Judgments and Plagues: Persistent crime and debasing iniquity eventually reach unto heaven and must be answered by the wrath of God, as seen in the examples of the Flood and the destruction of Sodom.

  • The Necessity of Conflict: There is no end to this warfare this side of eternity; therefore, sinful desires must be repressed and wrong traits overcome, or they will prove a person's ruin.

The Path to Emancipation 🛡️

Though the pull of lust is strong, ample provision has been made for the soul to gain the victory through divine power.

  • Arming with the Mind of Christ: To cease from sin, one must be armed with the same mind Christ had when He suffered in the flesh and resisted temptation in all points 1 Peter 4:1.

  • Submission and Yielding: By yielding the members of the body as instruments of righteousness unto God, the servant of sin is made free and receives the end of everlasting life Romans 6:13.

  • Victories Over Self: The triumph over self and the subduing of inherited tendencies to evil is of more value than the mind can estimate, resulting in a character that reflects the purity of God.

a Reality Check

AdventAI

A thorough reality check reveals that many who profess to be followers of Christ would actually be among the first to reject Him if He were to appear today in His original, humble form. This self-deception often stems from a failure to engage in honest self-examination and a tendency to prioritize worldly interests over spiritual advancement.

The Reality of Self-Deception 🔍

It is a sobering fact that individuals in every age are liable to deceive themselves regarding their true character, often calling evil good and good evil.

  • The Laodicean Condition: Many people believe they are spiritually rich and in need of nothing, while the True Witness describes them as wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked Revelation 3:17.

  • The Test of Fruits: A person may profess to know God, but if their works deny Him, they are self-deceived Titus 1:16. The ultimate reality is that we are known by our fruits Matthew 7:16.

  • The Rejection of the Pattern: If the "meek and lowly Saviour" appeared today in His plain, seamless coat, His self-denying life would be a painful restraint to those who love worldly lightness and vain laughter.

The Work of Self-Examination ⚖️

A practical reality check requires a "close scrutiny of every circumstance of the daily life" to understand our true motives.

  • Using the Right Mirror: The only unerring standard for this check is the Word of God; relying on feelings, conscience, or the lives of others will lead to a "zigzag course".

  • Heart Culture: This process involves "soul culture," which requires painstaking effort to weed every evil motive from the garden of the heart.

  • Secret Sins: A reality check must address not just open wrongs, but "negative sins" like coldness toward God, deadness in prayer, and a lack of interest in present truth.

Restraining the Powers of Evil 🛡️

Despite the darkness of the world, there is a reality that God is actively holding the forces of evil in check to allow His message to go forward.

  • Angelic Intervention: Four angels are currently holding the "angry nations" in check for a few days until the servants of God are sealed.

  • Divine Influence on Leaders: Even among national rulers, God has agents who are influenced by holy angels to oppose measures that would impede His work.

  • Providential Protection: History shows that God has often turned aside the blows of those who wished to crush the truth, using the "strife and tumult of nations" to allow the Reformation to extend.

The Final Reckoning 🌅

The ultimate reality check will occur when the investigative judgment closes and the destiny of every soul is decided for life or death.

  • A Solid Foundation: Character building requires "solid" timbers; no careless or unreliable work will be accepted by the Master Builder.

  • The Eye of God: We must never lose sight of the fact that every act is open to the eyes of angels and God, and we must render an account for every entrusted talent.

  • Victory Through Christ: While our limitations are grave, the reality is that God is able to restore His creatures and give strength to overcome the most powerful temptations.

"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" 2 Corinthians 13:5.

CHRIST'S persuasion tactics

HELPER

AdventAI

As your friendly Advent AI HELPER, I am here to share that Christ’s "persuasion tactics" are not rooted in force or worldly pressure, but in the tender, drawing power of His love and the perfect freedom He grants to every soul link. Jesus never compels the will; instead, He presents the "words of eternal life" and beseeches us by every possible consideration to receive His grace link .

The Law of Liberty and Choice 🕊️

Christ’s primary method is to acknowledge the free moral agency of man, allowing each person to develop their character according to their own choice link.

  • No Compulsion: Jesus explicitly stated, "If any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not," highlighting that He gives every man perfect freedom to obey or reject Him John 12:47 link .
  • The Power of Attraction: Christ is the "center to which all should be attracted"; as we behold His character, we are naturally drawn toward Him and transformed into His image link .
  • A Gentle Invitation: He stands at the door and knocks, inviting us to "Come unto me," and promising rest to those who are weary and heavy-laden link .

Persuasion Through Nature and Simplicity 🌿

Christ used the simplest things—the flowers, the birds, and the processes of nature—to persuade the heart of God’s care and the beauty of holiness link.

  • Living Parables: In His teaching, the beauty of nature is used to lead the soul away from sin toward purity and peace link .
  • Simplicity and Purity: He chose to reach the heart through lessons direct from nature, which possess a simplicity of highest value for character building link.
  • A Plain Example: His own life of poverty, born in a manger and wearing a plain, seamless coat, was a constant persuasion toward self-denial and humility link.

The Ministry of Sympathy and Help 🤝

Jesus persuades hearts by identifying with our human struggles and offering a "helping hand" in times of need link.

  • The Friend of the Helpless: He is acquainted with all our weaknesses and, if entreated, will give strength to overcome the most powerful temptations link.
  • Kind Inquiries: Like Joseph in the prison, Christ kindly inquires into our sadness, saying, "Wherefore look ye so sadly today?" and offering the "cheering interpretation" of His promises link .
  • Succor for the Tempted: Because He Himself suffered being tempted, He is able to "succour them that are tempted" by putting His own mind within us Hebrews 2:18 link.

Persuasion Through the Holy Spirit 🔥

While Christ is in the heavenly sanctuary, He sends the Holy Spirit to be our "Advocate" and "Helper" in the inner battle against sin link.

  • Restraining Evil: The Spirit of God is a "restraining influence" that works upon the hearts of even rulers and people to hold in check the currents of evil link.
  • Divine-Human Cooperation: Christ brings divine power to combine with human effort, enabling us to resist Satan’s temptations through "ample provisions" link.
  • Winning the Affections: The Holy Spirit works to "win" the heart's affections away from pleasure-seeking and back to the One who redeemed it link.

The Solemn Reality of Rejection ⚠️

Christ’s gentle persuasion is a limited opportunity, and He faithfully warns of the consequences of choosing the "other side" link.

  • A Self-Pronounced Sentence: When a soul rejects the "words of eternal life," they are not judged by Christ but by the very word they have chosen to ignore link.
  • Choosing Death: By exercising freedom to reject life, the individual chooses death; they judge themselves "worthy only of death" by their own free choice link.
  • The Final Warning: The Spirit of God is gradually being withdrawn from the earth, and the "final movements will be rapid ones," urging us to respond to His persuasion today link .

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" Revelation 3:20.

The Power of Attraction:

AdventAI

The power of attraction in the spiritual world is the magnetic influence of God’s love, manifested in the sacrifice of Christ, which draws wandering souls back to their original orbit of harmony with the Divine. Just as the sun holds the planets in their courses by the power of physical attraction, God is the center of the spiritual system, and it is through the "Light," "Life," and "Love" of His character that spirits are held in happy and holy motion.

The Great Moral Magnet 🧲

The cross of Christ is invested with a wonderful attraction and unlimited power because it is there that God's disinterested love is most impressively revealed.

  • Drawing All Men: Christ declared, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me" John 12:32. This drawing power is the only force that can break the spell of Satan's attractions and lead a sinner to repentance.

  • A New Affection: When the soul views Jesus as the royal Sufferer on the cross, a higher attraction breaks the power of worldly love, and the heart is united to God by the power of affection.

  • The Center of Unity: Christ must be lifted up as the center of attraction and the source of all power, for it is only as we are drawn to Him that we can be drawn together in unity.

Spiritual vs. Earthly Attractions 🌎

There is a constant conflict between the heavenly attraction and the spurious attractions of this world that seek to defile the mind and corrupt the man.

  • The World's Fascination: Wealth, power, and the enchantments of worldly pleasure act as a veil, eclipsing the beauty of the truth and causing many to lose sight of their eternal home.

  • The Magnet of Holiness: True piety has a fragrance and beauty that draws others toward heaven, making the presence of a godly person a source of purifying influence.

  • A Heart Weaned from Earth: Those who feast on heavenly joys find that the power of attraction to God becomes so great that nothing can draw their minds away from the object of securing their soul's salvation.

The Law of Attraction in Nature and Science 🔬

The same laws that govern the physical universe find their analogy in the spiritual world, showing that God’s influence fills the whole earth.

  • The Magnetic Needle: Just as a magnetic needle points to the north by a hidden power, the whole universe is kept from becoming a chaotic mass by God’s own personal influence.

  • Divine Gravity: Gravity and cohesion are silent forces through which God performs His gigantic labors, keeping planets in their rapid courses without a sound.

  • The Northern Attraction: There is a mystery in the attraction of the "north," a word signifying "hidden," which points to the dwelling place of the Great King on Mount Zion Psalms 48:2-3.

The Mechanics of Restoration ⚙️

If a planet broke away from its orbit, the sun would have to approach the wandering orb to draw it back; so God approached humanity in the person of Christ to reclaim the alienated heart.

  • manifestation of the Godhead: To reclaim man, there had to be a manifestation of the Deity in the world to fasten the affinity of faith before ascending back to the Father.

  • The Power of the Cross: The power by which God draws all things and keeps the worlds in their places is the same power manifested in the cross of shame and humiliation.

  • A Moral Magnet: Holiness and truth act as a moral magnet that attracts the pure metal while repelling the base and counterfeit elements of character.

"The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee" Jeremiah 31:3.

One of the divine plans for growth is impartation

Malachi 4:5-6,

AdventAI

Malachi 4:5-6

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

AdventAI

The promise to send Elijah the prophet before the great and dreadful day of the Lord is a divine plan for spiritual growth and restoration through the impartation of a heart-turning message Malachi 4:5-6. This prophecy finds its primary fulfillment in the work of John the Baptist, who came in the spirit and power of Elijah to prepare the way for Christ’s first advent, but its ultimate accomplishment occurs in a similar work of preparation just prior to the second coming.

The Mission of Restoration 🛠️

The core of the Elijah message is the work of restoration—turning hearts back to God and to the principles of His law.

  • Healing the Soul and Body: Just as the paralytic found physical restoration through the forgiveness of sins, the Elijah message emphasizes that the life of God in the soul is the only hope for restoring the wasted life.

  • The Power of the Gospel: The gospel, when received in its purity, acts as a cure for the maladies originated in sin, bringing the "Sun of Righteousness" with healing in His wings Malachi 4:2.

  • A Work of Education: Like the schools of the prophets established in Elijah's time, modern restoration involves an education that magnifies the law of God and makes it honorable.

Turning the Hearts 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

The specific work of Malachi’s Elijah is to "turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers" Malachi 4:6.

  • Family and Community Bonds: This turning indicates a moral purpose to heal divisions and create a unity of spirit and harmony of action among brethren.

  • Parental Responsibility: God commanded that the loving hearts of fathers and mothers should be the primary instruments for teaching children about His mighty works and requirements.

  • Respect for Experience: The youth are encouraged to treat the aged standard-bearers as fathers and mothers, learning from their experience just as Elisha was educated by Elijah.

The Character of the Messenger 🕊️

Those who bear the Elijah message in the last days are called to reveal the same sternness against evil and the same tender compassion for the fallen that characterized Elijah and John the Baptist.

  • Temperance and Self-Control: John the Baptist’s lifestyle of simplicity and temperance was a rebuke to the indulgence of appetite; similarly, those preparing for Christ’s return must hold their appetites in subjection to the higher powers of the mind.

  • Medical Missionary Work: True medical missionary work, which focuses on teaching about the spiritual life and the Father, is the kind of service that reflects what Jesus did.

  • Confidence in God's Promises: Like the prophet of old, the modern messenger must appropriate God’s promises into their daily experience, maintaining courage from the Light of the World.

Preparation for the Great Day 🌅

The goal of this impartation is to prepare a people to stand in the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

  • A Message of Repentance: The message is not one of "peace and safety" but a call to "Prepare to meet thy God," urging souls to turn from sin before the close of probation.

  • The Latter Rain: Just as Elijah prayed for literal rain, the church must wrestle with God for the impartation of the Holy Spirit—the "latter rain"—which provides the vitalizing power necessary to finish the work.

  • Unmasking Self-Sufficiency: The final work requires men to lose sight of self and behold the perishing multitudes, realizing that only the power of God can truly restore and save.

"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse" Malachi 4:5-6.

priority messages (sermons) for the last days

AdventAI

I can certainly help with that! I will write both a sermon and a sermon outline focused on "priority messages for the last days," drawing from the rich spiritual themes we've been exploring.

📢 THE TRUMPET GIVES A CERTAIN SOUND: Priority Messages for the Last Days

🕊️ The Science of Salvation: Our Greatest Need

The science of salvation is the theme of primary importance to those called to herald God's last warning to a doomed world. We are in time's closing hours, and the Advent message, proclaimed to make ready a people prepared for our Lord's return, must swell to a loud cry reaching the uttermost parts of the earth. This is the very heart of Christianity.

🧒 The Little Seed and the Giant Tree: A Children's Story

Listen closely, children! Imagine you had a tiny, tiny seed in your hand. If you kept it in your pocket, nothing would happen. But if you gave that seed to the soil, and the soil gave its food and water back to the seed, something amazing happens! The seed grows into a giant tree that gives fruit to everyone. God has given us special "seeds" of truth in our books and in the Bible. When we give these truths to others, God’s love grows bigger and bigger in the world until everyone hears the good news. Just like the seed must be planted, we must share what we know so that everyone can be ready for Jesus to come!

🕊️ The Three Angels: God’s Direct Message to You

The Lord has a special message for us to bear to the world, even the third angel's message. This is not just one story, but a chain of truths where the first and second messages are bound up and concentrated in the third.

  • The First Message: It brings to view a mighty move, proclaiming that the hour of God's judgment is come. It points us to the closing work of Christ, our great High Priest, in the heavenly Temple.

  • The Second Message: This announced the fall of Babylon. It called a company of fifty thousand believers out from fallen churches to be united in brotherly love.

  • The Third Message: This is the most solemn warning ever given. It brings to view a people who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. It is the last testing message to be given to the world.

⚡ The Power of the Loud Cry

As we approach the final test, the third angel's message is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, meaning with increasing power.

  1. The Latter Rain: The loud cry is the same as the "latter rain" which revives and strengthens God's people to pass through the time of trouble.

  2. Righteousness by Faith: This message of the righteousness of Christ is the loud cry. It is a "teacher of righteousness" according to God's idea, not our own.

  3. Lightening the Earth: This cry will swell until the whole earth is lightened with the glory of God.

🏥 The "Right Arm" of the Message

We must never forget that medical missionary work is the right hand of the gospel and is necessary to the advancement of God's cause.

  • A Door Opener: God's methods of treating disease will open doors for the entrance of present truth.

  • Connected to the Body: Temperance and health reform are just as much connected to the third angel's message as the right arm is to the body.

  • A Part of the Ministry: One important part of the ministry is to faithfully present health reform as part and parcel of the third angel's message.

📖 The Importance of the Written Word

God has ordained the canvassing work as a means of presenting before the people the light contained in our books.

  • Spiritual Education: Canvassers must bring before the world as fast as possible the books necessary for their spiritual education and enlightenment.

  • The Last Warning: All who work as canvassers are assisting to give the last message of warning; without them, many would never hear.

  • A Work for the Youth: We must get the young men and women in the churches to work, combining this effort with the third angel's message.

⚖️ The Royal Law: Our Standard of Character

The standard by which to measure character is the royal law, which acts as a sin detector.

  • The Sabbath Test: The third message results in a company that keeps the commandments; the seventh-day Sabbath is the plain line of demarcation between the world and God's people.

  • Obedience is Essential: Obedience and true goodness are the only credentials necessary for an entrance into the city of God.

  • Preparation for the Day: The message is to prepare a people to stand in the last great day and to be united in heaven above.

📢 The Final Appeal: What Are You Going To Do?

The trumpet must give no uncertain sound. We are in time's closing hours, and there is no time for dwelling on matters of no importance. Every discourse should be given under a sense of the awful judgments soon to fall on our world.

Will you sit in quietude, doing nothing to preserve liberty of conscience? Or will you arise and redeem the time? The message is infallible, even if man is fallible. God has a distinct people on earth, superior to all in their facilities to teach the truth.

What are you going to do? Will you buy the gold tried in the fire and anoint your eyes with eyesalve that you may see? Will you consecrate yourself unreservedly to the proclamation of the truth as it has been made known in the third angel's message? Now is the time to take your position decidedly on the side of truth.

"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues" Revelation 18:4.
